Pearl Harbor picture

Stupidity: In the scene where the Japanese pilots are attacking the main airfield, at one point in the background, you can see a Bofors Anti-Aircraft gun, yet nobody bothers to use it.

Upvote valid corrections to help move entries into the corrections section.

Suggested correction: Maybe it doesn't have any ammo, or there is nobody around who actually knows how to use it. These things can happen in a surprise attack on what is basically a holiday resort.

Chloe picture

Stupidity: It seems foolish of Chloe to seduce Catherine's son to get back at her. She should've sent the picture of her and Catherine together to David instead.

Fracture picture

Stupidity: The protagonist knocks at every door, humiliates himself, losing any hope of getting his dream job, jumps through all sorts of hoops to get a court order to save Crawford's wife, but somehow, once he gets it, he has to drive through LA and physically get to the hospital room where euthanasia will be performed, because he couldn't be bothered to phone the hospital to tell them about the court order or talk to someone in the lobby.

Gone Girl picture

Stupidity: When Amy tries to use the security cameras at Desi's house to make it look like he raped her, wouldn't the cops be curious as to why there was just one little scene - and not 30 days worth of footage? Wouldn't they question what happened to the rest of the footage (showing her being looked after by Desi and living comfortably), and why that little bit showing her crawling on the ground was left undeleted. Also she tied lace around her hands. Anyone could break material like that if they tried hard enough. Why would Desi risk that?

Angel Mountain picture

Stupidity: Colette was holding the metal ladle close to the bottom of its long handle and near the top of the hot pot of stew she was serving, and yelled, "Ah." due to her hand getting too hot. She had a towel wrapped around the handle of the pot, but it was that hand that got too hot/burned (not the hand that was holding the metal ladle close to the top of the steaming hot pot of stew). The Mauritanian picture

Stupidity: While awaiting their flight home, Nancy told Teri, "Think I miscalculated the tea. I'm not gonna last three-and-a-half hours [on the non-stop flight with no restroom facility]." Nancy then went into the gift shop where Stuart Couch introduced himself, asked if he could get her a drink, and bought her a bottle of beer. Nancy drank at least some of the beer on screen, even though she was already concerned about drinking tea before her flight. (00:59:28 - 01:00:30)

Firestarter picture

Stupidity: Charlie set her mom's blouse sleeves on fire and mom/Vicky just stood in the same spot, holding her arms (burning sleeves) out in front of her until Andy came and smothered the flames with a blanket. Even children know to "drop and roll" or put fire out by smothering it. (00:22:56)

House of Gucci picture

Stupidity: Patrizia Reggiani is no rocket scientist in this movie, but it's quite bizarre that calling the fortune-teller she sees on TV, with her name written in giant letters in two different spots on screen, she asks her "What's your name?" It makes sense for the international audience who may not recognize the word "Pina" as a name, but an Italian wouldn't have any doubt. (00:41:05)

Gemini Man picture

Stupidity: Despite the fact that the villains know exactly where Brogan is for the better part of the movie thanks to a tracer, and that they display constantly that they are able and willing to hit with bold military operations even to the point of hitting an urban area overruling law enforcement (apparently Clay has authority to do that too), Brogan is able to get undisturbed back in the US through his friend's plane. Considering he was officially marked as a rogue agent and killed 8 DIA operatives, it's hard to see how Baron's plane could ever land on American soil after a long intercontinental flight.

Battle of the Bulge picture

Stupidity: Staff Sergeant Duquesne is tossing and flipping rifle grenades before affixing them to his rifle to launch against the German tanks. A battle-hardened no-nonsense sergeant like Duquesne would never waste valuable time showing off, and would definitely not flip or toss around explosive ordnance like rifle grenades.

The Untouchables picture

Stupidity: There is no logical reason for a bookkeeper to be present at the liquor deal on the Canadian border and even less of a reason for him to bring the primary ledger with him. This is compounded by the fact this is merely a secondary bookkeeper and the main bookkeeper is subsequently subpoenaed by the district attorney.

The Gauntlet picture

Stupidity: Other than creating a scene for the movie, there was no reason for them to be driving so slow through the streets of Phoenix when they are going to City Hall. If they had gone at a faster speed, they would've made it through without getting hit so many times.

Shoot to Kill picture

Stupidity: When Jonathan is chasing the truck to try and save Sarah, he could have removed his heavy backpack and run faster...but instead just leaves it on. No wonder he wasn't fast enough.

A Haunting in Venice picture

Stupidity: One of the major reveals and plot twists of the movie lies in the fact that a certain character is an accomplice of the medium. The reveal, though, does not explain at all how said individual managed to fool Poirot; the trick briefly shown involves a simple rope pull to open a door. Poirot was looking exactly for that kind of trick, paces around the room constantly on maximum alert, and examines the door itself later. Likewise, it does not explain where and how they could hide the stuffed animal.

Wild Game picture

Stupidity: Gunner [Director and Co-Writer Brock Harris] was given a puppy ("Barnaby") by the nurse (?) who told him he was sorry his "[VA] benefits didn't go through." Gunner could have merely refused to take the puppy but, instead, drove away with it - and later threw it out his truck's window while he was driving. (00:24:42 - 00:25:55)

Orphan: First Kill picture

Stupidity: Soon after the new art therapy instructor Anna arrived for her first day at the mental hospital, Leena - the most dangerous patient - was not in her room and nobody could find her. The hospital went into lock down and the doctor took Anna to a room. Without first looking in the room, the doctor said, "Do not leave this room. Don't worry, you will be safe here and we'll come back after we found her" and then locked Anna inside the room - with Leena. (00:03:36 - 00:04:41)

211 picture

Stupidity: Outside the bank, Mike and the first merc are having a shoot out across the parking lot. There is lots of room between them and around them. Yet a random construction worker, with a clear view of this shoot out happening, suddenly decides to take off running into the line of fire between the cops and the robbers and gets shot in the leg. Their was no reason for him to suddenly decide to run between them shooting at each other into the line of fire. (00:44:35)

The Pledge picture

Stupidity: The end fell apart. It took convincing to get the police at the picnic area; however, while Jack was cracking up, they just left alone with his gun. After the stakeout was a bust, why didn't the police just question the girl: "Who told you to come here? Who was to meet you here?" Also, they police see a smashed black station-wagon. Was there no connection to the previous child's drawing?
