Trivia: Jimmy Stewart was not the first person picked to play Lindbergh. Stewart at the time was in his mis-40's. The first person at the time the same age that Lindbergh was at the time in 1927, But the actor had been fired by the studio a few days before filming began. His name was Clint Eastwood. Stewart had to lose 25 pounds of weight and dye his hair light brown.

Trivia: In the movie, Lou Gehrig concludes his farewell speech with the famous line "I consider myself the luckiest man on the face of the earth". However, in real life, he continued after this point. The last lines of his speech were "And I might have been given a bad break, but I've got an awful lot to live for. Thank you."

Trivia: Director Peter Bogdanovich's first choice for the part of Rocky Dennis was Anthony Michael Hall. Hall turned down the part because he didn't like the idea of hiding his face during the whole film with make-up. Eric Stoltz was then cast instead.

Trivia: It's shown in the film that Ray turns up to a protest outside the concert and then refuses to play before a segregated crowd in Georgia, which earns him a lifetime ban from the state. Ray Charles did cancel his concert but only paid compensation and was never banned from Georgia. There was also no protest outside the concert hall.

Trivia: In the film, Hurricane Carter is shown as having published a book called "The Sixteenth Round." This book, as well as parts of Sam Chaiton's (played in the film by Liev Schreiber) book "Lazarus and the Hurricane," is what the film is adapted from.
