Continuity mistake: When Tintin says "Checkmate" to General Alcazar, no pawns are visible on the chess board. When Alcazar starts bellowing in the next shot, two pawns have suddenly appeared. (00:29:20)

Continuity mistake: Just after Alcazar says the gun shooting was a joke after losing chess, Tintin places a castle chess piece on the table. As he finishes doing this (in the side angle), the castle then tilts to the left a few inches. (00:29:35)

Continuity mistake: The villains throw a rope at Tintin and pull him towards them. The shot after one of them takes out a bat, Tintin's coat is dark blue. 2 shots later, the coat is now a light blue. (00:30:30)

Continuity mistake: As the camera pans downward on a water fountain, Snowy miraculously appears on screen. He never walks into shot. He just appears. (00:01:15)

Other mistake: Tintin walks into Hector's apartment to give him his briefcase. An animation error occurs regarding his magnifying glass in the shot where Hector says "Just leave the mail on the table if you please." For the first few frames of shot, the circle around the edges of the magnifying glass is colored yellow. Then as he says the line, the edge of the magnifying glass suddenly flickers to black during the shot. (00:01:55)

Revealing mistake: Two villains listening to Hector's conversation with Tintin write down notes on his pad. When he writes, it's always the same place he writes every time. (00:02:45)

Character mistake: A man asks Tintin the time to which Tintin replies 11:20, but his watch reads 11:00. (00:03:55)

Audio problem: When Tintin leaves Hector's apartment to be stopped by a man asking the time, Tintin says it's 11:20. His mouth stops moving half way through the "eleven." (00:03:55)
Chosen answer: If Hector was seriously intent on removing King Ottokar's scepter from the glass cage holding it and launching it through the window with the camera, then Hector would have been forced to knock out the two guards so they would not have interfered with Hector's plan as soon as he removed the scepter from the glass. As for Hector, himself, was explained when Tintin was explaining how Hector stole the scepter. Tintin placed a twig inside the camera and it launched out of the camera. Hector would have placed the scepter inside of the camera, and would have been knocked unconscious due to the spring effect created when the scepter had been launched.
