Continuity mistake: When Roy and John are helping Jeanine get her head unstuck from the table, Jeanine's braid is very loose and coming apart, but when her head is free and she jumps into her mother's arms, Jeanine's braid is braided properly.
Character mistake: When Mr. Grady, the self defense instructor, and his wife are in the ER waiting room after Brackett taped up his fractured ribs, Mr. Grady makes a comment about being flipped, and instead of saying Mrs. Pestone he says the name incorrectly as Prestin, then a few moments later he says her name properly, just as he did earlier during the class.
Continuity mistake: While Roy and Johnny are at 86's treating everyone who is being brought in, when Johnny's on the Biophone with Brackett, in Brackett's closeups at the base station, we can see that the actor has a very swollen upper lip. When the officer who was hit by lightning is brought into the ER, Brackett's lip is much less swelled, and more the way it normally looks, but when Brackett is back at the base station, his upper lip is swelled up once again.
Continuity mistake: After the bookmaker has had the heart attack, when Captain Stanley bangs on his door, the bookie pulls one of the four telephones onto the floor, and when Roy walks in it ends up lying on the floor between the defibrillator and drug box, leaving three phones on the table. However, in the closeup, when Vince places all the phone receivers onto the bases, there are four phones on the table, plus a notepad suddenly appears on the table, and there are fewer cigarette butts in the ashtray.
Visible crew/equipment: When Squad 51 stalls and the guys call for assistance, when Charlie shows up and walks over to the squad, the reflection of the camera rig tracking backward can be seen in the squad's vent window. The reflection of location set lighting is also visible on the spotlight and squad.
Continuity mistake: When Charlie notices the scrapes on Squad 51's tire and complains that its drivers are messing with the squad's alignment, note that the scrapes' positions change twice, which means that the tire has rotated, even though the squad has not moved since the start of the scene when Chet walked over.
Continuity mistake: After Charlie checks the squad's engine, and replaces the adhesive bandage on the wire with proper tape, Charlie places the tape roll back into the tool box, but when John collects the rest of the tools lying around, Charlie gives him the role of tape, which is out again.
Visible crew/equipment: After Station 51 is dispatched to the structure fire, en route Squad 51's engine stalls and starts again, then while they continue driving when the dispatcher cancels the run the reflection of the filming vehicle can be seen on the squad's surface.
Continuity mistake: When Johnny and Roy are at the nurses' station talking to Brice and Belliveau about the paramedic advisory committee, both Roy's and Johnny's shirts are all smudged up from the last rescue they just brought in, but when Johnny and Roy head back to the squad their shirts are spotless.
Visible crew/equipment: When Squad 51 is dispatched to 'man injured', in the exterior shot of the squad while en route, when the dispatcher cancels the run the reflection of the filming vehicle can be seen on the side of the squad.
Visible crew/equipment: When Station 51 is dispatched to the plane crash, we hear Captain Stanley respond, "KMG365," and as he walks in front of the engine the partial reflection of the cameraman is visible on the windshield, right in front of Mike who's sitting in the driver's seat.
Audio problem: When Squad 51 is being dispatched to 'man unconscious possible heart attack', this particular view we have of the apparatus bay shows the brick wall where the bay's door track is located on the right of the screen, and we can see that the bay door is up, but when Roy turns on the squad's ignition, we hear audio of the bay door opening even though it's not actually closed.
Visible crew/equipment: When Roy and Johnny load the woman who fainted onto the ambulance, the curly haired attendant gets in the back with Roy and the patient, but en route Roy is alone with the patient, and when Roy tells them to pull over we see the silhouette of the curly haired attendant sitting in the front passenger seat. Then when the ambulance pulls over, only the driver is in the front.
Visible crew/equipment: When Roy's in the ambulance with the woman who fainted, he gets permission from Brackett to leave the TKO patient, so he and John can join Engine 51 at the traffic accident nearby. When the ambulance pulls over, the reflection of array lighting can be seen on the surfaces of both the ambulance and Squad 51.
Continuity mistake: After the paramedic teams are given their instructions before the start of the USC game, in the closeup the Trojan warrior is given his helmet and he has the sword on the saddle, but he does not have his shield when he turns to ride onto the field, yet in the next shot of the real-life recorded footage the Trojan warrior has the shield.
Continuity mistake: When John is putting the pompier belt around the waist of the man stuck up in the tree, he buckles it so the flap is going towards the man's right, but in the next shot as Chet climbs the ladder behind John, the life belt is around the man's waist the opposite way. Then, when John cuts the rope, the belt is back on the original way.

Answer: I believe you are speaking of the old man, Mr. Wilson. He's played by J. Pat O'Malley.
Bishop73
Correct, it was J. Pat O'Malley...he also played the grandfather with his grandson when their rocket exploded, and also played "Old Bill" in the episode with Ann Prentiss, where Gage saves the little girl from the burning tree house, and her mother falls in love with him.
