Emergency!

Body Language - S3-E12

Continuity mistake: After Roy tells Johnny to call Barbara, while they're standing by the telephone in the kitchen, Squad 51 is dispatched to 'man unconscious at Observation Park', and when the squad rolls out of the apparatus bay, the engine we see parked in the bay is the Crown from the first two seasons, not the current Ward LaFrance.

Body Language - S3-E12

Continuity mistake: When the parathion victim is brought into the ER, they go into treatment 2, but in the view from inside the treatment room when John opens the door to leave, we can see that he's actually on the opposite side of the hall facing treatment 2, which means he's in treatment 1.

Body Language - S3-E12

Continuity mistake: At the start of the episode, when Roy and John are going through inventory in the trauma and drug boxes, there are three rolls on the trauma box lid and John takes two of them leaving only one, but it cuts to another angle and now there are two on the lid.

Understanding - S3-E13

Continuity mistake: After John spots a cute nurse talking to Dixie, when he zeros in on Dix for the nurse's name Dixie's holding a pad in her left hand, but in the next closeup her left hand's empty as she gives John an entire run-down on that nurse.

Computer Error - S3-E14

Continuity mistake: When Dr. Early and Marcia's father stand outside her semi-private room, number 104, we see treatment 4 is right beside it. There are two problems with this bizarre situation. First, when Dixie gave Early the lab results about Marcia's possible pregnancy earlier, treatment 2 is right beside treatment 4, not the semi-private room 104. Second problem is that when Early and the parents walk into Marcia's room, in the interior shots we can see that there's a perpendicular wall right beside the doorway to its left, where the hallway ends. Computer Error - S3-E14

Continuity mistake: When Brackett's examining the teenager (Donny Most) with paralysis Morton's standing beside him, but in the next shot as Dixie takes the teen's BP, we see Morton standing behind the teen with the student nurse, then Morton's back beside Brackett.

Computer Error - S3-E14

Continuity mistake: At the station, after Johnny has searched through a bunch of papers for the receipt for $8.42, when he gathers them up a yellow paper falls to the floor at his feet, just before Roy suggests putting them in alphabetical order. Then after Johnny stuffs the papers in an envelope and tosses the envelope in the garbage, the paper that fell on the floor has vanished.

Messin' Around - S3-E15

Continuity mistake: When Station 51 is dispatched to an 'unknown type rescue', the woman who opens the door tells them she didn't call, and when Roy asks her if he and Johnny can check on her sick husband, Roy's second shirt button is open and his undershirt is visible, but in the next shot it's buttoned up again.

Messin' Around - S3-E15

Continuity mistake: At the start of the episode, after Chet takes a spoonful of hot cheddar cheese the bowl is near his plate, but when it cuts to facing the other guys that bowl is on the other side of the table near Marco, then back and forth again.

Messin' Around - S3-E15

Continuity mistake: When the boy who ingested ant poison is laid down on the gurney, the safety belt is wound around the gurney's side bar and clasped, but when exiting the house and loaded into the ambulance the safety belt is directly around the boy.

Messin' Around - S3-E15

Continuity mistake: When Johnny goes to the closet to get the mop, because he's 'latrine officer of the day', he gets hit by the phantom, and all the guys run out of the kitchen to see Johnny wet again, so when dispatch drops the tones they all head for the vehicles and Captain Stanley removes his jacket. Then next shot all the guys are running out of the kitchen, as if they were all still there, and Stanley is wearing his jacket.

Messin' Around - S3-E15

Continuity mistake: When Old Bill is wheeled into treatment 3, there's a pillow under his head and the gurney he's lying on has grey trim, horizontal bars under the bed and flat steel plates over the wheels, but when it cuts to inside treatment 3 as he's brought in, the pillow has vanished and the entire style of the gurney he's lying on is completely different.

Messin' Around - S3-E15

Continuity mistake: After Station 51 is dispatched to 'man down' and realize it's Old Bill when they look through the window, when Roy and Johnny climb through the window their gear is handed in to them, and John takes the drug box with his left hand and Biophone with his right, but in the next interior shot John's taking them with the opposite hands.

Messin' Around - S3-E15

Continuity mistake: Before Old Bill wakes up, Brackett, Morton, and Early are talking in the hallway outside Bill's room, and the hallway is a big, wide open space. After Bill wakes up, Dixie goes out to the hallway to get Brackett, and when they walk into Bill's room we can see the hallway behind them, and it's a fraction of the size it was before, only about 4-5 feet wide now.

Messin' Around - S3-E15

Continuity mistake: After bringing Old Bill to the ER, when Squad 51 gets back to the station, in the shot of the squad driving backwards toward the driveway, the engine we see parked in the apparatus bay is the Crown from the first two seasons, not their current Ward LaFrance.

Fools - S3-E16

Continuity mistake: When Chet is being timed while putting on his gear, Squad 51 is parked much further up than the engine, providing more room in the apparatus bay behind the squad to run the drill. Then when Station 51 is dispatched to the explosion, the squad's parked normally. Additionally, we see the front bay door is closed, but that's impossible considering how far up Squad 51 was parked during the drill.

Fools - S3-E16

Continuity mistake: When Roy and John are in the ER's staff lounge discussing Donaldson, Roy's button, second from the top, is buttoned up in the wide shots, but is unbuttoned in his closeups during the conversation.

Fools - S3-E16

Continuity mistake: When Roy and Johnny are with the man in full arrest on the tower at the refinery, Johnny hooks up the Datascope with the wire, but in all the overhead shots there is no wire at the back of the Datascope monitor.

To Buy or Not to Buy - S5-E14

Other mistake: On scene at the traffic accident, when the woman and the boy with non-serious injuries are seated at the back of the ambulance, neither Roy or Johnny are going along with them to Rampart, yet Johnny puts the drug box inside the back of the ambulance with them, and the ambulance drives off. With their drug box! Captain Stanley even says that he'll advise dispatch that they're available for a run at the scene, while the guys will be looking for the dog.

Trainee - S2-E8

Roy: I think you're on some sort of an ego trip, Ed. And in my book that makes you a very dangerous character.
Ed: [Laughs.] Ego trip, huh? Well, I didn't realize that psychiatry was part of the paramedic's training.
Roy: Oh that's good, Ed, you be funny. But that isn't gonna change anything. You wanna know what I figure? Well, I figure when you were working in Vietnam, it was rough. So rough you started playing over your head. And you were making it, you were doing real good. Considering it was a combat situation. And pretty soon you started getting all blown up about how Ed Marlowe is just as good as the real doctors. And you've been living on that ever since. And the trouble is, Ed, you are good. Except for two little problems. You can't quit competing with real doctors. And you can't face being wrong. You see, those people we treat out there, I mean the people we work for, the people who pay for this whole operation, they're real people, Ed, with real problems. And they have a right to expect more than just being used by you for some sort of trip. [Completely exasperated.] I guess what I'm trying to say to you, Ed, is that in my book you're just plain unprofessional.
[Ed walks out.]
John: Do you think it did any good?
Roy: Do you?

The Game - S6-E1

Trivia: It's in this episode that the Heimlich Maneuver is used for the first time by the paramedics. At the USC game, when a guy is choking on a hot dog, John and Roy are called, and John uses the Heimlich. Up until season 6 we've seen the guys use other methods, such as the ChokeSaver which look like huge white tweezers, to remove obstructions in an airway, as seen in 4x9, "Foreign Trade."

The Mouse - S4-E20

Question: The old man that comes in with his wife that can't breathe, the one that the head nurse tries to counsel and tempts him with a cup of coffee. I believe he is Alfred Hitchcock, though his name is not listed anywhere. Alfred Hitchcock is known for his cameo appearances in his own shows and in other shows. Can someone confirm that this is him? This is driving me nuts... It is toward the end of the episode, but I cannot give you times.

Answer: I believe you are speaking of the old man, Mr. Wilson. He's played by J. Pat O'Malley.

Bishop73

Correct, it was J. Pat O'Malley...he also played the grandfather with his grandson when their rocket exploded, and also played "Old Bill" in the episode with Ann Prentiss, where Gage saves the little girl from the burning tree house, and her mother falls in love with him.
