The Best Burger in New York - S4-E2
Continuity mistake: When Ted picks up his burger it already has a bite taken out of it, then in the next shot the burger is whole again. (00:20:09)
Intervention - S4-E4
Continuity mistake: After the gang gets to the bar around the end of the episode, Ted starts his speech about how they all need to move on. As he moves over to the booth, he tells the people sitting there to get out. You can see that the girl takes her phone with her, and there is no other phone anywhere on the table. A few seconds later, she comes back saying that she left her phone, and now the phone is visible on the table. (00:19:25)
Intervention - S4-E4
Continuity mistake: In this episode, both Ted and Marshall mention that Lucy, Stella's daughter, is 7 years old, when in the previous season (13th episode of 3rd season, Ten Sessions) Stella states: "I have a daughter. Her name is Lucy, she's 8." Did she grow younger?
Intervention - S4-E4
Continuity mistake: In this episode we see that Barney punched a hole in the wall next to the door because Ted broke apart a girl fight. It is supposed to be under the calendar on the right side of the door. It is also said that Ted and Robin were dating at this time. But earlier, in the episode "Wait For It..." (3-1) We see Ted going through his break up phase after Robin. One of the phases is painting the apartment, and there is no hole.
Continuity mistake: Robin says she never played any team sports in 1-6 "Slutty Pumpkin". But in this episode she talks about her relationship with her father, being on a hockey team that won a championship and she made out with her teammate.
Continuity mistake: When Lily is making her list she takes the lid off the pen twice. (00:09:00)
Continuity mistake: When they call Barney to find out if he succeeded with The Naked Man, the girl answers the phone. In that shot Barney's tie is curled up next to the shirt, but in the next shot, the tie lies on the shirt. (00:19:00)
Continuity mistake: During the scene back in college, when Marshall and Lily are listening to Dr. X's show, at the first shot of the radio, you can see some popcorn there already, although Marshall has not thrown any, yet. Even if you claim he's been throwing constantly, a few shots later they vanish, and reappear.
Continuity mistake: Ted says that Marshall and he only ate jerky and drank Tantrum on their road trips. In 2-17 "Arrivederci, Fiero" however it's established that Marshall had a rule forbidding any kind of food or drink, even groceries, in his Fiero. (00:01:15)
Continuity mistake: In the 7th episode of Season 5, the scenes when the "Storm-Trooper" (actually, a robot) passes by The Window do not match. The first time we see it, from the outside, as soon as he passes, Robin notices him and points towards him, but the second time, from the inside, she doesn't point at him.
Continuity mistake: The scenes before Robin and Barney leave the diner vary depending on the angle. From outside we see that Robin fixes Barney's suit before they leave, but from the inside she doesn't.
The Playbook - S5-E8
Continuity mistake: In season 5 episode 8, Marshall and Ted are playing on an Xbox 360 Console. If you look carefully, you see that Ted's Xbox controller has no batteries in it, yet he is playing the game with Marshall, and then a few scenes change and so do the batteries. Scene 1, 12 minutes and 23 seconds: Marshall's remotes has a battery in while Ted's is out. Scene 2, 12m 40s: Marshall's Xbox control has no battery in. Scene 3, 12m 51s: Marshall's battery is back in the controller. Scene 4, 12m 58s: Marshall's battery is out again. Scene 5, 13m 44s: Marshall's battery is back in.
Continuity mistake: Lily and Marshall mention that they've been using the same toothbrush ever since they've been together, but in the 14th episode of the 1st season, "Zip, Zip, Zip", Marshall and Lily are simultaneously brushing their teeth with a tooth brush each (before Ted and Victoria get home). (00:05:05)
Suggested correction: Many people buy another toothbrush to take on trips and since they were supposed to be going away, they probably decided to use them at home, as if this was their trip.
Say Cheese - S5-E18
Continuity mistake: Barney claims in this episode he never "takes a bad picture". But in earlier episode "The Sexless Innkeeper" there were plenty of bad pictures of Barney in Marshall's Best Night Ever Montage.
Continuity mistake: When Barney and Ted are calling dibs on the girl at the bar, in the closeup her book cover clearly reads "Brideshead Revisited", but in the wide shot it's something else entirely, spread across several lines.
Continuity mistake: There is a lot of foam in the glasses when Barney pours champagne, however after camera shot changes all the foam is gone. (00:10:15)
Continuity mistake: Randy's noise bleed moves from his left nostril to his right and then back again. (00:14:20 - 00:15:00)
Continuity mistake: When Randy reveals that he didn't sleep with Robin, the blood from his nose switches nostrils between shots.
Continuity mistake: When Ted leaves the bar he leaves his phone behind and yet he somehow still makes a phone call to Lily from the subway.
Good Crazy - S7-E22
Continuity mistake: When Ted is on a date with the 2nd girl you can see her tattoos but when Ted sees Robin the tattoos change. (00:09:50)
Suggested correction: Marshall came up with the rule because of Lily and Robin. Before they met, in the era when Ted and Marshall had road trips, they would've had food and drinks.
Nope, the no food or drinks rule is because his brothers made him get 12 hot cups of coffee without lids and drive with them naked, and he got burnt. That was when he got the car, before he met Ted.
It is possible that they stopped and got beef jerky and drinks to eat outside the car. Just a possibility.
They're shown drinking in the car.
