Continuity mistake: At the end a shot is shown of the FBI airplane in mid air. The airplane shown is a Gulf Stream V; which has a very distinctive nose. After the scene inside the airplane; another shot is shown of the plane's exterior, however all of a sudden they fly a Gulf Stream 100, which is a significantly larger plane and a very different design. Mosley Lane - S5-E16
Character mistake: Reid tells Mrs. Hillridge that he's been working for the BAU about five and a half years, which is roughly since the pilot aired in 2005. But flashbacks in "Tabula Rasa" show that Reid was a relatively new rookie in 2004, which is roughly six years. Considering Reid has an eidetic memory, the six-month discrepancy is a bit suspicious.
Factual error: They were talking about serial killers having kids on the plane at the end. Hotel said, Manson had 10 or 11 children. Charles Manson only had 3 sons.
Exit Wounds - S5-E21
Factual error: The BAU is called in to assist the Sheriff's Dept. in Franklin, Alaska (a made-up town, although there is a ghost town by that name). By statute, Alaska has never had any Sheriffs. Functions filled by sheriffs elsewhere fall mostly under the auspices of the Alaska State Troopers. Other law enforcement is by community or (rarely) borough which is what Alaska has instead of counties.
Other mistake: JJ calls Hotch unsure if she can make direct contact with the unsub, fearing that she will make a mistake. Hotch tells her she will do fine and tells her that they are gathering background information about Flynn, who is the unsub. At this point the team have not yet figured out the identity of the unsub and Hotch should not know his name. (00:27:35)
Character mistake: When Reid and Rossi propose the theory that Kate knew Syd and Jimmy before her disappearance, and JJ expresses her skepticism, Rossi retorts "they're handsome, charming, 19." But while reviewing the case on the flight to Maryland, JJ mentions that the boys are both 20.
Continuity mistake: While Morgan and Prentiss are at the crime scene talking to the homeless man, when Morgan moves the tent and finds the text written on the wall, the homeless man smudges the text with his fingers, but when Morgan sends a photo of the evidence the smudges and text differ.
What Happens at Home... - S6-E10
Character mistake: After the murder that takes place while the team is at the church meeting, they gather together to talk about narrowing down the suspect list to the people who didn't show up to the meeting. Spencer shows up with a stack of papers and says 18 suspects didn't show up. We then see his actor break character and almost laughs when he looks over at Ashley, whose actress too almost breaks character from laughing.
Audio problem: When Reid and Morgan are walking up the stairs to the first victim's apartment they are talking, but their mouths aren't moving. (00:06:05)
Continuity mistake: When the kidnapper is taking the girl out of the basement, she is barefoot as she climbs the ladder; but when Morgan pulls her out of the car, she is wearing sandals with an intricate strapping pattern.
Suggested correction: It's quick, but if you look close you can see the heel strap of her sandals as she takes the first step on the ladder.
Continuity mistake: During the lake scene, it's sunny when they are showing the suspect and victim driving toward and into the lake, and it is raining when Morgan is shown running after the car and diving into the lake.
Character mistake: Unsub calls his victim Marcy, her real name, as opposed to Rose who he believes she is.
Visible crew/equipment: As Rossi comes to Morgan's rescue you can see a guy behind Agent Rossi seemingly holding a camera. A few seconds later Morgan gets up and right before he turns to punch the henchman guy you see the same camera guy again. (00:34:33)
Continuity mistake: When Cy sneaks into the house with the key under the mat, in the bedroom he picks up the triple gold frame with two photos of Matt with Lyla and one photo of young Lyla in the blue dress in the center frame, then he holds it to his face and places it back on the right side of the dresser. However, after Cy hears Lyla coming into the house, when she sees the underwear on the bedroom floor the frame on the right side of the dresser is now a double wood frame with only one of the same photos seen earlier.
There's No Place Like Home - S7-E7
Character mistake: When Travis James' juvenile record is brought up, Oklahoma is spelled "Oaklahoma."
There's No Place Like Home - S7-E7
Character mistake: On Travis James' arrest report it shows his DOB as 10/28/98 and Garcia says he is 22. This show is based in 2011 at this point so the DOB should be 10/28/89.
Other mistake: During the flashbacks, they show Prentiss with the rest of the BAU, but Prentiss didn't join until season two. If it was accurate it would've shown Elle, not Prentiss. (00:19:49 - 00:21:01)
Continuity mistake: The clock on the bomb's secondary timer doesn't match with reality while Prentiss is trying to defuse it - going from 15 seconds to 10 too slowly, then skipping the final few seconds so it can end on 1 second remaining.
Factual error: While JJ and Will might have exchanged "commitment vows" with a willing officiant, they could not have actually married in the time frame given for multiple reasons. The bank robbery occurred on a Saturday and the proposal was that evening at the hospital, with a stated intention to go down to the court Monday to wed. Instead, Rossi and Will set it up for the next evening, which was Sunday. The following is taken from Washington, D.C.'s marriage information site: 1) the court offices that issue licenses are only open M-F; 2) there is a mandated three day waiting period between obtaining the license and performing the ceremony; 3) there is a ten advance notice required to arrange a civil ceremony through the court office. Therefore, the earliest they could be legally wed would be on Thursday with a license and a private ceremony, while a civil ceremony would actually have taken an additional week. As for JJ's "lets get married tonight", I can't see any hospital chaplain obliging.
