Criminal Minds

Won't Get Fooled Again - S1-E3

Other mistake: Just after they were finished explaining that you can not tilt the mystery package because it would instantly blow up, they show the little girl at her doorstep holding the package completely tilted. Just when you think that means that this package now doesn't fall into the "explosive" category, they then show the mom freaking out, and later police making the girl hold the package in a completely different (non-tilted) position.

Derailed - S1-E9

Other mistake: When Morgan is showing the rest of the team the drivers license photos of the hostages on the train, every one of them is wearing the same shirt as they are on the train.

White Lock

The Last Word - S2-E9

Other mistake: While Hotchner and Reid are talking about Hollow Man and the Mill Creek Killer, Reid's going through the newspapers and when he figures out that the two killers have been talking to each other via the classifieds, there are two closeups of an ad's text. After Hotchner suggests using their relationship against them, Hotch says that Reid's fake ad will imitate Hollow Man's language patterns to send a message to the Mill Creek Killer. Then we hear Reid reading the fake ad they just placed in the classifieds, but the problem is it's the same ad that was shown in the closeups earlier, plus an additional line at the end - "here's my gift to you."

Ashes and Dust - S2-E19

Other mistake: In the opening scene, the UnSub is wearing breathing apparatus, however his smoke hood is under his face mask. Wearing the hood under the mask would make it impossible to get a face seal, and as such would let smoke into the mask.

In Name and Blood - S3-E2

Other mistake: The boy says he is doing multiplication and the rest of the class is still on long division. You can not do long division without first learning multiplication.

Scared to Death - S3-E3

Other mistake: When the character is buried alive the psychiatrist pours bags of dirt on the head of the victim. First, there is a pile of bags that shows only 8-10 bags of dirt, which is not enough to fill the hole. Secondly, the victim was conscious and standing up with no apparent broken bones, which means she could have just stood on the dirt as it was (very slowly) poured in. Additionally, she was buried completely during the entire time the murderer was evading police, having a conversation with Hotchner, and jumping to his death. Then the BAU talked about their suspicions she was still there and had to make it all the way to the basement. She would not have had a "faint pulse" after all of that time.

A Higher Power - S3-E15

Other mistake: When Garcia tracks down Peter Redding's current address, we see a close-up of Garcia's computer screen and the address reads "12859 Beckler Ln.," but when the BAU and police arrive at Peter's house the number is 4433.

A Higher Power - S3-E15

Other mistake: When Prentiss and Morgan are trying to figure out how the victims were controlled, Prentiss phones Garcia to find a drug that would temporarily paralyze or subdue. Then just as we hear Garcia answering the call, there's a close-up of Garcia's computer screen and we see the picture of five suicide notes, and at this point there have been six victims. Then later, after the seventh victim is found, when Morgan holds the latest suicide note in the close-up, we can see it's the same note that's already been shown.

Super Grover

The Crossing - S3-E18

Other mistake: When it shows Keri's license it says it expires in 2003, but the episode takes place way after that year, considering Katrina had already happened.

Lo-Fi - S3-E20

Other mistake: At the start, the soon-to-be victim gets off the A train at Spring Street (subway heads south, then Bklyn/Queens) and stands on the west-side platform, facing the southern subway exit, then the unsub comes up from behind him, shoots him and he falls toward the same way that the unsub walks - the southern exit. However, when Hotchner plays the NYPD's surveillance footage, the victim is facing the northern subway exit when the unsub comes up from behind him, shoots, and he falls toward the same way that the unsub walks - this time the northern subway exit. Interestingly, neither are flipped shots since we can see "Spring St" correctly. Later, when Prentiss reviews footage it's as it was shown originally.

Super Grover

The Angel Maker - S4-E2

Other mistake: At the start, it's nighttime when the unsub hides in the house of the soon-to-be victim who goes to sleep when her alarm clock reads 'Tue 11:06', and then we see the time morph to 'Tue 1:13' when the victim is sound asleep, before the unsub comes out of the closet to kill her. However, the time on the clock should actually read 'Wed 1:13'.

Super Grover

Cold Comfort - S4-E14

Other mistake: Evergreen State University in Olympia Washington should be The Evergreen State College (they aren't a university). The transcript for Evergreen (assuming they meant the real college) is also wrong in every way: -They said the guy Ivan was expelled, but the transcript lists a B.A. awarded in June of 1968? - Evergreen has always used a narrative evaluation so there are no grades. There shouldn't be numbers or averages. -There are no majors - you get a B.A. or a B.S. -They don't have classic course names like "Philosophy 101" or "History." -The school was founded in 1967 - he couldn't have taken those classes that are listed from 1964 - 1967. (00:18:50)

Demonology - S4-E17

Other mistake: Prentiss pulls up to a bar and the shot shows her looking out of the car window. "BAR" is shown reflected in red on the car window, but it is readable from left to right under the closeup of Prentiss's face when we see her. The reflection of "BAR" should have been backwards since it's a reflection of the sign on the building.

Jennifer30

The Big Wheel - S4-E22

Other mistake: When Morgan calls Garcia to have her search for Vincent, Prentiss jumps in saying he is a mentor. However Morgan had just learned this and didn't mention it on the call.

The Longest Night - S6-E1

Other mistake: JJ calls Hotch unsure if she can make direct contact with the unsub, fearing that she will make a mistake. Hotch tells her she will do fine and tells her that they are gathering background information about Flynn, who is the unsub. At this point the team have not yet figured out the identity of the unsub and Hotch should not know his name. (00:27:35)

Profiling 101 - S7-E22

Other mistake: During the flashbacks, they show Prentiss with the rest of the BAU, but Prentiss didn't join until season two. If it was accurate it would've shown Elle, not Prentiss. (00:19:49 - 00:21:01)

Burn - S10-E2

Other mistake: The age of the deceased Raymond Leu (35) shown in a death certificate doesn't match up based on year of birth (1948) and year of death (2014).

Anonymous - S10-E12

Other mistake: When Hotch, Morgan and JJ review the footage from the first murder, they are able to zoom extremely close on the victim's hand. Why don't they do the same with the car license plate as the killer leaves? (00:21:45)

Criminal Minds mistake picture

Tribute - S11-E19

Other mistake: A mugshot of a suspect is showing with some personal information. Name, license number, address, etc. The field for "Home address" shows a valid address but "Work Address" shows "Male." The correct field title should be "Sex." (00:40:00)

ppdixx

Legacy - S2-E22

Visible crew/equipment: A possible cameraman's hand with a wedding ring holding a bar with the camera is visible as one of the victim looks down a two way route. (00:24:50)

Limelight - S3-E13

David Rossi: When I interviewed Bundy, he had a theory about pornography. He said "If you want to stop people from becoming like me, don't burn Catcher in the Rye."
Aaron Hotchner: "Burn Hustler." I read your books, too, Dave.

Trivia: The scene where Rossi is bird hunting was done to show how different the character was going to be from Gideon, who was a noted bird lover.

Show generally

Question: The crew takes a private jet to most locations but always have the same black S.U.V.s. How do the vehicles get there as fast as the crew?

RGW

Chosen answer: Black SUVs are common police, military and dignitary vehicles around the world. It is not too much to assume they could be rented or owned by the police forces in the areas.

kristenlouise3

Other people have explained it but fore more information, federal cars would most likely be brought to the airport from the nearest agency, so they can drive out to their locations especially in rural situations.

Answer: There is only one BAU (or that's the impression the show gives, in reality there's 5 teams within the BAU), and they're based out of Quantico. However, the FBI has 56 field offices, each with their own vehicles leased from the over 200,000 vehicles that make up the Federal motor fleet. There are long term leases to federal agencies on these cars, in addition to there always being vehicles being made available to lease on an ad hoc basis for assignments. Plus, local and state police likely also have their own unmarked fleets, but due to the vehicles being mostly the same make/model/color in most episodes, they'd likely be borrowed from the nearest field office or other local federal office or ad hoc leased from the fleet for the assignment.
