Continuity mistake: During the investigation of the dead wife's crime scene, the arms of the corpse change position from shot to shot throughout the scene, including a moment where the corpse's arms are crossed, then in the next shot Ducky is shown crossing her arms. Ducky is also shown crossing the same arm twice, and the guitar control also changes direction and position with respect to the body. (00:03:20 - 00:05:30)
Under Covers - S3-E8
Continuity mistake: In S1 E15 "Enigma", about 30 minutes in, Gibbs takes out his flask and the engraving is "For Good Luck, Your Loving" with the bullet on it. At the end of this episode it's engraved with "Jethro, For Good Luck Love Shannon and Kelly".
You Better Watch Out - S10-E10
Continuity mistake: When Tony's dad arrives at the NCIS office for Christmas, he is met at the elevator by Ziva. He is holding a Christmas present (which looks like a bouquet of flowers) with the 'red' end up. As the camera angle changes, he is now holding it 'red' side down. (00:28:25)
Continuity mistake: When Tony & Ziva meet their contact in Naples, we see a local cop walking down the background behind them, and passing a walkway to the boat. Seconds later, as the camera changes view, we see that cop about 30 feet back, going the same way.
Continuity mistake: The pill bottle the agents recovered from the house has the Doctor's name "Fleming" to search for. But when McGee searches the NCIS system, he spells the name "Flemming" and gets his results. As well, the scrip sheets for Dr. Flemming archived on the computer, contain several identification numbers - DEA (AJ0000000000), Batch (00000001) & License (C00000.) - not real numbers - so the prop master didn't even try to fake any of them. See No Evil - S2-E1
Continuity mistake: When Gibbs leads Tony and Kate to MTAC, Tony extends his arm in a "ladies first" gesture to let Kate go ahead of him, then drops his arm to his side. In the next shot, his arm is extended again and he drops it a second time. (00:16:30)
Continuity mistake: When Abby offers Palmer a sip of her Caf-POW!, after he helps determine how their victim was poisoned, the cup switches hands between shots. (00:26:20)
Continuity mistake: When Ducky and Palmer determine that LCPL Korby was frozen to death, Ducky's grip on his forceps changes between shots. (00:06:15)
Continuity mistake: When Vance is packing up to leave at the end of the episode, he opens a red folder on his desk. When Jenny enters the office a moment later, the folder is instantly on top of Vance's briefcase. (00:41:45)
Continuity mistake: The year Gibbs joined NCIS is inconsistent. It is revealed in this episode that he joined the NIS in 1992, the same year it became NCIS. But in the JAG crossover episode "Ice Queen", Gibbs tells Commander Rabb that he has been an agent for 19 years, which suggests that Gibbs joined NIS in 1984. And in "Singled Out" in season 4, McGee mentions that Gibbs has been an agent for roughly 16 Years, which would put Gibbs' joining NIS in 1990.
Continuity mistake: When Gibbs, Tony and Ziva Rendezvous with McGee outside the enlisted club, to search for Sgt. Porter, McGee puts his NCIS ballcap on twice. (00:09:15)
Silver War - S3-E4
Continuity mistake: When Ziva, Ducky, and Dr. Burns find the graveyard, Dr. Burns is visible between Ducky and Ziva's shoulders. She then disappears in the following wide shot, and appears again in the closeup. (00:39:40)
Bikini Wax - S2-E18
Continuity mistake: When Gibbs shows his identification to Jonathan Redding's supervisor, he holds the badge from the top of the wallet, then at the bottom, then back at the top. (00:26:40)
Continuity mistake: When Gibbs thumps Tony on the back at the storage locker, his hand is balled up in a fist. In the next shot, Gibbs' hand is extended flat. The pen in Gibbs' hand also disappears. (00:04:45)
Continuity mistake: During the conversation between Jackson and Ziva, a $20 bill is dropped, face down. When Ziva bends down to pick it up, the bill is now face up.
Chosen answer: "Policing your brass", means to pick up your expended shell casings, after firing your rifle, or pistol.
