The Office

Show generally

Continuity mistake: In 4-14 "Goodbye, Toby", Andy Bernard invites his parents to the going-away party for Toby Flenderson and introduces them as "Andrew and Ellen Bernard." But in 6-16 Andy tells Jim that he was originally named "Walter Jr." after his father and that it was changed when his little brother was born and the name Andrew was one that they got out of a baby-naming book. Additionally, in 8-4 "Garden Party", Dwight is introducing the entering guests. When Andy's parents arrive, Dwight says, "Mr. And Mrs. Walter and Ellen Bernard." (00:36:20)

Show generally

Continuity mistake: In one episode Angela says she hasn't talked to her sister in years over an argument that she doesn't remember. When she's engaged to Andy and they're touring Dwight's farm he mentions she has multiple sisters. In the finale she only has one sister and apparently they are incredibly close.

Suggested correction: In the finale the "Sister" is Angela's best friend. Do you recall them each saying this is my older sister?

That's a common joke among siblings that are close, they're joking about which one is older. Rachel is Angela's sister, not just a friend. They even go on to say "we're very close. We even have our own special language", which is something common among siblings that are close. The mistake is valid.

Show generally

Continuity mistake: During season 1, specifically episode six, it is shown that the show is filmed in a real office building. The windows we see in Michael's office and the conference room match the exterior windows as they all walk to their cars at the end of the episode. However from season 2 onwards the office is at ‘1725 Slough Avenue', featuring the building everyone's familiar with. However if you look at the windows on this building they do not at all match the set interior, they even have vertical blinds that are visible. A large set error they ignored when moving to the replica set.

Pilot - S1-E1

Continuity mistake: When Jan, Michael and Pam are having a meeting in Michael's office they're sitting against the front window, but during that scene when it shows Jim and Dwight talking at their desks, if you look over Jim's shoulder you'll see that the office behind them is empty. (00:06:30)

Pilot - S1-E1

Continuity mistake: In the first episode, where Dwight is talking to Michael and Ryan, when he gets the Jello out and gets angry at Jim, look at Jim when they keep going back and forth to him. In some shots he has a Jello cup and spoon in his hand, and sometimes he does not. (00:14:45)

Pilot - S1-E1

Continuity mistake: While Michael is introducing Ryan to Dwight and the stapler-in-jello is found, we see that Phyllis' chair is empty. Then a moment later there's a shot of her looking at Jim while sitting in her chair with no time to get there. And then the chair's empty when shown again. (00:15:25)

Diversity Day - S1-E2

Continuity mistake: When they're having the Diversity Day meeting Jim's chair can be seen over Michael's shoulder several times. In the beginning of The Meeting the chair is pointed towards his desk, but when Kevin says that he remembers the Chris Rock routine and begins to recite it, you can now see that the chair is pointed towards Pam's desk; however no one has left The Meeting in that time. (The only person who's not in The Meeting is Devon. He was at his desk and walking around a few times but it makes no sense that he would go and move Jim's chair.) It's obvious that the actor left the chair in different positions during different takes. (00:06:00 - 00:07:05)

The Alliance - S1-E4

Continuity mistake: Jim writes in Meredith's birthday card that she is an accountant, but later in the series it's said that she's a customer relations rep instead.

The Alliance - S1-E4

Continuity mistake: Dwight is hiding in a box in the basement when Pam comes down to the basement and pretends to make a secretive phone call. As she does so the box that Dwight is hiding in changes position on the floor, presumably so that the camera can catch the holes that Dwight has made in the box in order to breathe.

Basketball - S1-E5

Continuity mistake: During the Basketball game just before Pam throws the jump ball, Stanley is seen standing over Pam's left shoulder. After she tosses the ball up Michael hits the ball mid-air over to Stanley who is now about 10-15 feet in front of Pam, with no time to logically get there between shots. (00:13:15)

Hot Girl - S1-E6

Continuity mistake: When Michael takes Katy around the office, while walking by Phyllis' desk he asks Ryan to look after the purses, but Ryan says he can't because he's "installing File-Share on all the computers." Phyllis is noticeably absent from the shot. Ryan is sitting at Phyllis' desk. Michael and Katy take a few steps and walk into the kitchen area. In the background we can now see that Phyllis is now sitting at her desk and Ryan is nowhere in sight. There wasn't enough time for both to switch locations. (00:06:10)

The Fire - S2-E4

Continuity mistake: After everyone but Dwight and Kelly exit the building (because of The Fire), Dwight picks up the water jug and accidentally knocks over the blue cups next to it. A few cups fall to the floor but one remains still on the printer (next to where the jug was). After Dwight gets Kelly out of the kitchen, the blue cup has disappeared from the printer. (00:04:20)

The Injury - S2-E12

Continuity mistake: When the Dunder Mifflin staff is gathered around Pam's desk listening to Michael on the phone, the screen on Pam's computer changes from the Dunder Mifflin site to the desktop and back again in between shots.

Take Your Daughter to Work Day - S2-E18

Continuity mistake: When we first see what Toby's daughter looks like it's in a photograph on his desk that Michael points out in 1-6 "Hot Girl". The girl in the photo has dark brown/black hair. The next time we see his daughter is in this episode, and she has bright blond hair. A completely different child actor was used. (00:07:35)

Suggested correction: The dark haired girl is Stanley's daughter and she goes to the Catholic girls school. If you look at Toby's desk on the wall is the picture of his daughter.

No, there is a picture on Toby's desk / on the wall of his desk, of his daughter in episode 6 season 1, where his daughter appears to have dark brown hair. Then when she comes in the office for "bring your kid to work day" she has blonde hair and blue eyes.

Last Day in Florida - S8-E18

Continuity mistake: Toby competes with Darryl to sell Girl Scout cookies. Toby says it's his daughter's first year selling them. However, earlier in the series, Toby agrees to sign Dwight's apology letter from corporate if he buys cookies from his daughter.

The Cover-Up - S6-E23

Question: In the beginning, when Jim and Pam are supposedly communicating through Morse Code, do they actually saying anything? What about the end with Pam and Dwight? What is said? Or is it just random clicks, taps, and blinks to seem like Morse Code for the audience?

Bishop73

Answer: This is what a person on Reddit wrote regarding Jim and Pam: I know Morse code well, and most of it was gibberish, especially Jim's clicks. Pam's second transmission was almost intelligible as SE HE IT (3 clicks 1 click, 4 clicks, 1 click, 2 clicks and long click). "

raywest

Answer: I only know the part about the detonator, the rest might be random but Jim said "There is a detonator in this office."

Is that what is actually clicked out? Seems way too long for what how short the scene is. Or are you just guessing that's what was implied because of Dwight's reaction.

Bishop73

Answer: I tried to solve it, seemed like random clicking to me.
