Man of Science, Man of Faith - S2-E1
Continuity mistake: At the start we see Desmond in the hatch. When the explosion goes off he gears up and runs over to a machine where he turns the music off. The shot of the shelf is a flipped shot. (00:02:28)
Man of Science, Man of Faith - S2-E1
Revealing mistake: When Michael and Sawyer are on the raft and they hear the knocking on the raft, you can see the cable holding the raft in place descending to the floor. (00:10:30)
Man of Science, Man of Faith - S2-E1
Plot hole: Sawyer pulls the bullet out with his bare hands, we are led to believe, through the cut the bullet made. When you are shot, the flesh immediately seals up, meaning you would need a knife or something like that to get it out. Sawyer only had the gun, as he could not have hidden the knife AND the gun. (00:15:25)
Man of Science, Man of Faith - S2-E1
Visible crew/equipment: Just as Sawyer's raft falls apart, we get a shot of Michael on his raft. In this shot, a wire holding his raft in place is visible at an angle in the water. (00:21:00)
Man of Science, Man of Faith - S2-E1
Continuity mistake: When Kate climbs onto the ladder of the hatch, she has both feet on the ladder from the top angle. But when the shot changes to below her, she still has 1 foot on the edge of the hatch. (00:24:50)
Man of Science, Man of Faith - S2-E1
Continuity mistake: When Kate drops the torch in the hatch, its position keeps changing between shots of it. (00:26:20)
Continuity mistake: Just before Michael says "You're going to pull the bullet out with your bare hands?", Sawyer's hair is very wet and pulled back, as if it were in a pony tail. When the camera switches back to Sawyer saying "You got a better idea?" his hair is a lot drier and covering his face. In the next shot, it is pulled back again. (00:15:10)
Continuity mistake: When Mike and Sawyer climb onto the pontoon (after Mike shoots the shark) there is a long wooden beam protruding to the left of the pontoon. In the next shot (morning, where Mike is crying) the beam protrudes the other way. (00:35:00)
Other mistake: In the scene with Sawyer and Michael drifting on the pontoon, where Michael is crying, you briefly see a boat with a mast in the background in one shot over Sawyer's right shoulder as he faces the screen, just before he says "Are you all right Mike?". (00:38:10)
Continuity mistake: When Michael is finished talking with his ex and Walt at a park, over his right shoulder can be seen a dark-haired woman in a black halter top and green slacks walking away. The camera shifts to the opposite view where Michael is looking, and the same woman is seen leaving a newsstand in front of the ex. (00:39:00)
Orientation - S2-E3
Continuity mistake: While Jack holds the gun on Desmond, who is running away, the stains on Desmond's garb change, particularly the very large reddish stain on the right side of his chest that disappears in the wide shots.
Continuity mistake: When Hurley's mum is trying to wake him up, the position/way he's holding his ticket changes. (00:06:20)
Continuity mistake: At the end of the episode, when Sun is burying the message bottle late at night, the camera shows close-ups of her hands. In the space of a few seconds, she has no ring on her left hand, then a ring, then no ring. (00:40:30)
Continuity mistake: Hurley's lottery ticket changes from when it is first shown to when it is shown later.
...And Found - S2-E5
Continuity mistake: When Jack calls Sun on the beach, there is no one near her. When the shot changes to a close-up, someone is walking past her. (00:07:40)
...And Found - S2-E5
Character mistake: When Sun rips up her garden, she sits down with her arms crossed and head against her arms. In these shots, the position of her hands, the dirt on her hands, the dirt on her watch, all change between shots. (00:22:30)
Continuity mistake: When Claire is holding Aaron talking to Locke, she says "I can't believe he is still sleeping" and they show him sleeping. She then asks Locke if he wants to hold him and then hands Aaron to Locke. His eyes are wide open. Then you see Locke obviously holding a doll in the next shot and they are talking about him still being asleep. Locke then hands Aaron to Charlie and the eyes are again wide open and they are still talking about him being asleep. (00:19:40)
Answer: Using a mold, a realistic pregnancy belly is made of latex (rubber), including the distinct belly button, to suit the proportions of Emilie de Ravin who plays Claire. It is then painted with a special paint/adhesive compound that adheres to the surface and for shots of the actual belly, additional veining and stretch marks are airbrushed on.
