You Gotta Know When to Fold 'Em (2) - S4-E17
Plot hole: Al hasn't got enough cash to pay for a pizza and Peggy overmaxes his credit cards. But somehow he manages to buy three flight tickets for Chicago-Las Vegas. Where'd the money come from? Also, when his card is declined, he calls the pizza shop back (they call him "no tip" Bundy), and somehow they know where Peggy maxed out the credit card. (00:05:15)
You Gotta Know When to Fold 'Em (2) - S4-E17
Factual error: Bud and Kelly wouldn't be allowed to go in a casino in Vegas because they are both under 21.
Other mistake: When Peggy throws the final ball, all the pins fall except for one and the sweep bar comes down. It is then shown wobbling down without the sweep bar in play. This is an illegal drop and would not count under any PBA sanctioned tournament or in any bowling alley in the United States. The bowling alley would credit her with a 299, and Al would have a chance to get a 300.
Plot hole: In this episode Al is about to break Puggy Weaver's record. Peg decides to bowl and scores a perfect score of 300. Problem is Peg is a horrible bowler, as seen in season 2 episode 9. She never bowls with Al or even enjoys bowling, so this episode really makes no sense.
Suggested correction: This is not a plot hole, but a plot point. Yes, Peg is a horrible bowler, but it's typical Al Bundy luck that his wife would be able to put together a perfect game no matter how unlikely.
So this one and only episode she scores a perfect game? Highly unlikely. Oh and she's wearing a long evening dress too which would make it difficult to bowl. So this episode makes no sense.
It makes perfect sense. In the world of the show, the universe is out to screw Al over. The worst that can possibly happen to him will happen no matter how unlikely.
It is a comedy, so having all those "strikes" against her, she still managed to bowl a perfect game - leaving Al hopeless and hapless.
Revealing mistake: Kelly is standing by the clock on the stairs. You can see Al and Peg's shadow on the wall waiting for Kelly to come up the steps, so they can come down. (00:02:59)
Revealing mistake: When Kelly enjoys her triumph at the middle of the stairs you can see a shadow on the wall right from her - obviously Al stands behind the wall waiting for his cue. (00:19:00)
Revealing mistake: When the bailiff pours rum into the judge's jar, it's obvious that there's nothing coming out of the flask. (00:13:05 - 00:14:10)
Factual error: The final scenes titled "Kankakee 1991" show desert scenery in the background; Kankakee, Illinois is in the Midwest US, which is almost entirely grassland and no desert.
Suggested correction: Kankakee and most areas surrounding have sandy soil and some areas can look very desert like during a very hot dry season but the mountain in the background is what gives it away. Kankakee is very flat other than the landfills.
Continuity mistake: Kelly knocks the lampshade off the lamp. Next shot shows it put back on although no-one is around it.
Factual error: Al plants a vegetable garden. 6 weeks later his garden is shown with fully developed vegetables including full stalks of corn. Not possible in a month and a half.
Other mistake: Al is running the water down the rabbit hole. Bud says the ground isn't even wet and asks where the water is going. A few seconds later Marcy is walking through the yard squishing on the ground because it's flooded.
Revealing mistake: When Al slams Kelly's date's head on the banister it moves back and forth indicating it's made of rubber.
Other mistake: Bud calls a late night sex hot line which is a 1 900 number yet he only pushes 6 digits on the phone.
Visible crew/equipment: At the beginning of the Last Will reading we see that there's no-one sitting left to the female notary. But in the close-ups there is a small round silver-shining object at the right edge of the picture - left from her. Must be some equipment. (00:04:20)
Continuity mistake: Marcy's floral headpiece falls off during the backyard wedding scene, then, in the next shot, after she hits Al with her flowers, it appears on her head again. (00:18:30)
Visible crew/equipment: Right after Jefferson walks out after saying what he was in jail for, when they are showing Bud and Al, you see a large head shadow go across Bud's leg from left to right.
Visible crew/equipment: When Bud and Kelly are sitting on couch, after Al goes upstairs, you can see the shadow of crew/equipment go across Bud's shirt from right to left.
Visible crew/equipment: When Peggy enters you can see the shadow of someone's head at the left edge (the kitchen). It can't be anyone of the actors. (00:12:05)
Continuity mistake: The out of order sign on the toilet changes position between shots. It's level at first. Camera cuts to other men. When it cuts back to Al it is tilted. (00:18:18)
Continuity mistake: When Al and Peg are on the couch, the ice bag changes position.
