Married... with Children

Poppy's By the Tree (1) - S2-E1

Factual error: At the end of the episode, the killer shoves a long machete up through the mattress. This isn't possible considering he's under a bed and there's not enough vertical space to shove a machete straight up.

Suggested correction: Steve is the bank manager and is closing up for the day. There is also a security guard sitting right by the door. And he has to unlock the door to let Al in. No mistake here.

Amy Emerick Tice

The mistake is about leaving the vault door wide open instead of closing it. Not about Steve needing to unlock the front door to let Al in.

My point is Steve is closing the bank with a security guard there and the door is locked. So what if the vault is open? Steve just hasn't closed it yet.

Suggested correction: Decades ago (including the 1980s when this show aired), credit cards were sometimes sent to almost anyone - or "anything", such as a family's dog. People used to joke about actually getting a credit card for their cats, dogs, infant children, etc. Credit card representatives also went on campuses to lure "unemployed" students into getting credit cards by offering a free gift. They hoped college students would buy what they wanted or needed and parents would bail them out (pay the bills).

KeyZOid

Suggested correction: It should be pointed out that credit card companies, especially in the past, do send out random cards (and offers). They buy customer information from stores from various sources, like warranty cards. People who have received credit cards for their pets (which has happened) have often filled out warranty cards with their pets' name but the rest of the information is the person's.

And some of the "less than honest" recipients of unsolicited credit cards were able to use the cards practically immediately, so went on shopping sprees and charged thousands of dollars for whatever they wanted with no intention of paying or being identified. And not all college students had parents that would bail them out, resulting in huge losses. It took a while, but the credit card companies learned from their mistakes and made drastic changes to avoid getting ripped-off in the future.

Just Married ... With Children - S2-E20

Factual error: In the game show near the end, when Marcy and Steve come out as Al and Peggy. When the real Al and Peggy win the car, because they used Marcy and Steve's names, the car would have never gone to the real Al and Peggy. In reality, it would have gone to Steve and Marcy because it was won under their names. Al and Peggy would not have been able to keep the car. In fact Al and Peggy would not have been allowed to be on the show at all using someone else's name.

Hot off the Grill - S4-E1

Factual error: Al uses ashes to cook food on the grill. You can't just throw ashes in a grill and light them! They wouldn't light at all. That's like trying to light cigarette ashes and expecting them to burn hot enough to cook food.

976-SHOE - S4-E8

Factual error: The sheriff does not come to your house and take your credit cards just because they are maxed out. The only time they would do that is if you stole someone else's card and were using it.

A Taxing Problem - S4-E14

Factual error: Peg says she did the taxes and claimed 23 children. First of all, you can't. Max number of dependents is 2-3, and second you have to have birthdates and social security numbers for everyone. You can't just write whatever you want and send it to the IRS. And it's a joint return yet Peg says she didn't sign her name. You have to. So in reality, she would get in trouble too since she actually lied on the tax return.

The Unnatural - S5-E4

Factual error: The final scenes titled "Kankakee 1991" show desert scenery in the background; Kankakee, Illinois is in the Midwest US, which is almost entirely grassland and no desert.

Suggested correction: Kankakee and most areas surrounding have sandy soil and some areas can look very desert like during a very hot dry season but the mountain in the background is what gives it away. Kankakee is very flat other than the landfills.

Suggested correction: Depending on the bar all you need is a diploma or GED and be old enough per the state's laws.

Old College Try - S7-E11

Factual error: Bud goes to Marcy's bank to cash his college grant check for $25,000. She gets side tracked by Jefferson, takes the check, then gives Bud his own checkbook. Bud leaves the bank and Al and Peg come in and make a deposit on his college fund. The teller gives them a receipt showing there's $25,000 in the account. Not possible considering Marcy has the check and with a check that big, there's a wait period.

Chicago Shoe Exchange - S11-E24

Factual error: When Kelly and Jefferson are driving Bud to the chiropractor and puts him on the roof of the car, as they are driving palm trees are lining the road. There are no palm trees in northern Illinois anywhere, let alone lining roads.

He Thought He Could - S3-E1

Continuity mistake: When young Al reaches forward with his left arm to take the book that Miss Degroot wants to give to him, she quickly pulls back but young AL still has his arm raised. In the next shot, his hand his down by his side.

The Mystery of Skull Island - S6-E14

Al Bundy: "I Care", by Al Bundy. When hooters jiggle around and I find nickels on the ground, I care. When a Mustang engine purrs and the bathroom is not hers, I care. When the pitchers on the mound and the wife is underground, I care. But when I've been playing this for days, I will kill anyone who stays, I SWEAR!

Dial 'B' for Virgin - S9-E7

Trivia: When Al and Peg are in the video store looking for a movie to rent, the video store is giving away free copies of the movie "Dutch" which is a comedy that starred Ed O'Neill.

Answer: It's implied that Steve filed for divorce since in s04e16, "You Gotta Know When to Hold 'Em", Marcy says that Steve is suing for alimony. Alimony is something that has to be requested when filing for divorce. Although the show doesn't spend time on the actual legal proceedings of their divorce.
