Starring: Rowan Atkinson

Genres: Comedy, Family

Correction: There isn't a "sudden" parting. The bowl Mr. Bean used has notch (like a lip or spout) on it and we see Mr. Bean cut the hair to follow the edge of the bowl, which resulted in him cutting an upside down V into the front of the hair (that the submitter thinks is a part).

Tee Off, Mr. Bean - S1-E17

Corrected entry: In the beginning scene, Mr. Bean and a lady working for the laundromat are using silver-coloured washing machines to wash their clothes, But, if you watch carefully, both are seen taking their laundry out of yellow-coloured washing machines.

Rath

Correction: At the beginning they are using the washing machine and at the end they are pulling their stuff out of the yellow dryer.

Do-It-Yourself Mr. Bean - S1-E13

Corrected entry: When Mr. Bean goes to the January sales, there is a huge queue of people waiting outside the store he visits - but the roads outside it are completely empty of cars. Since the shop is in London (you can see a London Transport sign on a bus shelter), which is usually choked with traffic anyway, this is highly incongruous.

Moose

Correction: You have to realise this is first thing in the morning on New Year's Day, which is a bank holiday, so most people will still be at home, therefore causing the roads to be quiet. It is not stated where the department store is set, so it could be a quieter suburban street, not necessarily Central London. Also when Bean finishes his shopping and loading his car, you do see more cars than when the store opened. I know this because I have worked on New Year's Day in London and it is very quiet.

Mr. Bean Rides Again - S1-E9

Corrected entry: When Mr. Bean is standing next to the man at the bus-stop, the man starts to have a heart attack. He starts to make choking sounds and gargling sounds, but his mouth is wide open like he is screaming, not gargling. (00:02:10)

Correction: You can make gargling sounds with your mouth open.

The Curse Of Mr. Bean - S1-E4

Corrected entry: In the swimming pool scene, we see the female lifeguard swapping places with the male lifeguard on a raised seat by the pool. However, shortly afterwards, he tells everyone to leave the pool and is not on the platform. (Why would he go up to the platform in the first place if everyone was getting out shortly anyway?)

Correction: Some swimming pools have a policy where a life guard must be up on a platform for the times that the pool is open. While it is a bit pointless going up for a few minutes, if it's the policy of that pool, it must be adhered to. When he orders everyone out, we see him out of the chair, but not how far away he is from the chair so he could easily be standing just a few feet from the chair.

Goodnight, Mr. Bean - S1-E18

Corrected entry: In the scene where Mr. Bean is trying to distract the guard, he takes a photo of the cupid near the guard. When he takes the photo the cupid has a red "fig leaf," but in the next shot, which is supposed to be seconds after the photograph, the "fig leaf" is gone.

Correction: There is a gap of a few minutes before you see the statue again. Enough time for the "leaf" to fall off as it was only a piece of rubbish Mr. Bean licked to hold it in place.

Mr. Bean Goes To Town - S1-E6

Corrected entry: When the magician pulls the scarf from Mr Bean's jacket, you can see that the scarf is already in Mr Bean's jacket and the magician just takes it out. But since Mr Bean showed up late to the magic act, the magician would not have had any chance to put the scarf there before Mr Bean came up to the stage.

Correction: The way the magic trick works (in the show and in real life) is that the magician, using slight-of-hand, places the scarf in Mr. Bean's jacket without anyone seeing (reverse pick-pocketing) as he's getting on stage, not before.

Mind The Baby, Mr. Bean - S1-E14

Corrected entry: During the roller coaster ride, in one wide shot you can actually see Bean is not in the front seat but in the second seat. But we only just saw Bean get in the front seat. (00:10:10)

Correction: In all the wide shots Mr. Bean is always in the front seat of the front car.

Correction: Every time I've watched the scene, there is only the razor noise and no bell.

Mr. Bean In Room 426 - S1-E11

Corrected entry: In "Mr Bean In Room 426", when he is sleeping after getting food poisoning, he hears music from next door's room. When he looks at his clock, it says 12:05pm. However, as we know it is night-time as there is a show and hardly anyone around (and darkness in windows) then the clock should read 12:05am and not pm.

OliviaD3601

Correction: On that model alarm clock it is only pm when there is a light next to the PRINTED words "PM." In the shot you can see there is no light next to PM.

Goodnight, Mr. Bean - S1-E18

Corrected entry: In the hospital scene, when Mr. Bean is trying to steal a better queue number, he notices the old sleeping man with number 24 which happens to be next up. However, since the old man is showing the number for the camera and pointing it away from Mr. Bean, he would not be able to see it. The number on queue notes are not printed on both sides.

Andreas Winnberg

Correction: While the numbers aren't printed on both side, the paper is thin enough and the printing dark enough to be seen from the backside, albeit reversed. This is noticeable in the scene as well. Even if this wasn't the case, Mr. Bean may have just been attempting to steal a ticket from a sleeping man.

Mr. Bean In Room 426 - S1-E11

Corrected entry: Bean kind of 'squeezes' the TV remote control in some shots to switch the TV on/off or change the channel but doesn't press the buttons on the keypad. On this type of remote control (it's a JVC one by the way), the large blue button is the power button, but it never gets pressed.

Correction: How do you know that Mr Bean was turning the TV off? Maybe he was pressing mute, and that's what made it silent?

Correction: Well, my father once purchased a hi-fi system that looks as if it needs speakers to produce any sound at all. He bought speakers for it too, but then one day when the speakers broke and he disconnected them, he found out that there was actually sound coming from the box itself, from an integrated speaker at the bottom. Likely Mr. Bean's is the same way.

Merry Christmas Mr. Bean - S1-E10

Corrected entry: When Bean starts making up his own tunes whilst being in temporary control of the band, it is quite obvious in some shots that the band members are not following his instructions and are actually playing the tunes from the music sheets fixed to their instruments.

Correction: It is quite correct for the musicians to be playing the music from the score in front of them while reading the beat from the conductor. There is no way for a conductor to convey a melody to the band.

The Trouble With Mr. Bean - S1-E8

Corrected entry: After Bean has repaired the controller for the model boat, he plays with the boat - however, the switch on the controller is off at first, and yet the boat is moving about as if someone is controlling it.

Correction: Look again - the switch is in the ON position. I have watched this many times and can be sure of that.

Do-It-Yourself Mr. Bean - S1-E13

Corrected entry: When Mr. Bean is going to bed and he hears the other people across the hallway cheering "Happy New Year", Mr. Bean looks at the clock he has in his drawer and it reads 12:00 yet the second hand is not moving. Either it failed as soon as he picked it up or they froze the shot. (00:07:00)

Correction: On analogue alarm clocks, the alarm is triggered when the hour hand passes over the alarm hand to complete the circuit to make it beep. In 99% of clocks of this type, the alarm hand is coloured typically red or yellow to distinguish it from the second hand, if one exists. In Bean's case, the shot isn't frozen in post-production (you can see Bean moving it slightly) therefore the yellow hand must be the alarm hand.

Merry Christmas Mr. Bean - S1-E10

Corrected entry: Bean supposedly unplugs the lights on the outside of the Harrods building when he is testing his own set of lights, but if you watch closely, some of the Harrods lights go off moments after the others. (When they're plugged in again, the same sort of thing happens: some of the lights come on moments after the others.)

Correction: This isn't a mistake, this isn't unique to Harrods and I'm willing to bet that the same thing happens with your Christmas lights at home. The effect is a trick of the light and also because it takes slightly longer for the power to reach the bulbs further along the track. The sequence with Harrods building lights is the same thing only on a much larger scale so it's far more noticeable.

Correction: If you watch the crowd through the smoke, you can see them starting to disperse.

Mr. Bean - S1-E1

Corrected entry: Towards the end of the examination, the examiner says "Two minutes, ladies and gentlemen." (i.e. 2 minutes left until the end of the exam). However, he then tells everybody to stop writing less than one minute later.

Correction: The show is not in real-time.

Mr. Bean Goes To Town - S1-E6

Corrected entry: When Mr Bean arrives with his new TV, the room is dark, so he has to switch on the light. However, when he starts undressing, he closes the curtains, which were open, and it's daylight outside: so the room should have been light when he arrived.

Correction: If you take a look inside his home, its a very dingy studio flat with dark colours, explaining why it is so dark when he comes home.

Goodnight, Mr. Bean - S1-E18

Other mistake: When calling their next patient, the nurses look at the small screen to find out what number is next. After Mr. Bean has rotated the device, however, a nurse calls number 92 before the screen displays the 9. (00:06:22)

Trivia: The Latin lyrics used at the beginning are "Ecce homo qui est farba, qui est farba, qui est farba", which mean "Behold the man who is a bean". At the end, it's identical, but "Ecce" is changed to "Vale"; "Farewell, man who is a bean." Before and after the advert break (in the UK version), the lyrics are "Fin de partie primae" and "Pars secunda" - "End of Part One" and "Part Two".

Mr. Bean Goes To Town - S1-E6

Question: In the first act when Bean can only get a decent TV signal by sitting in a certain part of the room, we can hear the soundtrack of a programme "on" Bean's TV. Does anybody know what programme Bean was trying to watch please?

Neil Jones

Answer: Don't think it was an actual programme; more likely just sounds they recorded themselves.
