Continuity mistake: Just as the F-14's are coming under fire from the ship, we are shown the pilots. One of the pilots, "Pendry" was killed when his F-14 crashed due to a malfunction in the earlier episode 'Pilot Error'. As such, "Pendry" could not have been fired on in this episode since he was already deceased.
Continuity mistake: Just before Kate asks Rabb if he was a pilot she starts to take a drink from her cup. The shot changes she starts to take a drink again. (00:38:30)
Continuity mistake: When Rabb & Kate arrive on the Seahawk, they are not wearing the proper life-vests, etc.
Continuity mistake: Throughout the episode, Harm is referred to as "Lieutenant Commander", and wears the respective insignia. But he's still a lieutenant at this point; he isn't promoted for another three episodes. This occurred due to several season 1 episodes being aired in the wrong order, with the DVDs going by the same broadcast order.
Continuity mistake: In season 1, episode 10, Harm is a Lt. Commander. In episode 11, he is back to Lieutenant.
Continuity mistake: When Captain Boone descends to engage the Hind, they are in forested mountains. It then cuts to the Hind, and there are no trees, then after the tomcat crew punch out, the RIO is hanging in the trees. The scenes that showed the Hind were cut from the movie Red Dawn.
Continuity mistake: The death of the astronaut occurring while practicing the escape in the bucket would never happen in real life. That is because when NASA conducts them in real life before a shuttle launch, the crew practices everything up to entering the bucket. NASA does not want to run the risk of their astronauts being injured during a simple practice.
Continuity mistake: The hull number on the ballcaps of the sailors on the USS Daniel Boone doesn't match the hull number of the ship used to portray it. The hull number on the caps, DDG-72, is currently assigned to the Arleigh Burke-class Destroyer, USS Mahan.
Continuity mistake: When Lt. Roberts is held hostage in Admiral Chegwidden's office with the Admiral and the Major, he mentions a sister named Winifred. She is never mentioned again throughout the series. In later seasons it is implied that Lt. Roberts only has one sibling, a brother named Mikey.
Continuity mistake: After Harm's cockpit canopy is smashed, he and Ayers continue to fly with their masks off - one would have thought that wearing oxygen masks would have made things easier in that situation.
Blind Side - S3-E4
Continuity mistake: In the bar the camera pans down to Harm's boots. He's wearing black jeans. In the jeep, when he jumps out to stand next to Mac, he has on light blue jeans.
Continuity mistake: The aircraft carrier used in this episode, the USS Coral Sea, had the correct hull number on the ballcaps worn by the crew - CV-43, but the hull number displayed on the ship was "65". CVN-65 is in reality, the USS Enterprise.
Continuity mistake: Bud tells Harm that he was 11 years old when he took his first 'Tiger' cruise on the USS Arleigh Burke. However, the Arleigh Burke (DDG-51) was commissioned in 1991, which means Bud would only be 18 years old at the time of this episode.
Continuity mistake: When the Cubans prepare to fire the Harpoon missile there is a shot of the Mk13 launcher preparing the missile for firing. However, later in the episode when they fire, the shot shows the missile coming out of the vertical launch cells forward of the Mk 13 launcher.
Death Watch - S3-E19
Continuity mistake: At Harm's apartment, when talking to Mac about Cmdr. Krennick's advances towards him, he tells Mac that he wouldn't get involved with a superior officer, anymore than she would. However, it had already been established earlier this season in "For The Good of the Service" that Mac had a romantic relation with her Commanding Officer, Lt. Colonel Farrow.
Mr. Rabb Goes to Washington - S4-E8
Continuity mistake: The lone shark's thugs break down Mac's door trying to get to her husband, Chris Ragle, who is hiding in her apartment. Although the door is splintered to pieces, later that night, the same door is back in perfect condition, including the custom paint job that matches the interior decor of the apartment.
Continuity mistake: When Rabb takes off with the F-117 in the Iranian desert we see bushes when he lifts off, however in the next shot, when we see the Nighthawk from the front, the bushes are gone.
Continuity mistake: After Big Bud punches Dobie, younger Bud is visible having run around a corner to help break up the fight. In the next shot, Bud is nowhere to be seen and he runs around the corner again. (00:12:30)
King of the Greenie Board (1) - S5-E1
Continuity mistake: When Harm deals with the Lear Jet, his F-14's registration number keep changing with each different shot of it.
Chosen answer: When landing on an aircraft carrier, a pilot "calls the ball" by confirming to the landing signal officer (LSO) that they have the carrier, and more specifically its landing guidance systems in sight. Carriers use a Fresnel lens system which is a light only visible at a certain angle, so if a pilot sees the "ball" they are at the correct altitude and glide slope for landing.
