Show generally

Corrected entry: How were Ted and Dougal able to understand Father Hernandez during the game of Cluedo, given that they couldn't speak Spanish? The three priests have a long and convoluted conversation that covers topics as diverse as the difficulty of living a celibate lifestyle, the attractiveness of Mrs Doyle, Father Jack's alcohol consumption and his problem with earwax, and the type of presents Father Hernandez has for Ted and Dougal. I know it was being translated at the time. Just puzzling.

Correction: That's the joke.

Show generally

Corrected entry: In reference to the scene where a soldier opens fire and no shell casings are seen, Father Ted is set in Eire. The rir would not patrol south of the border, let alone on an island. Any link to the north is irrelevant.

Correction: Very true - and Father Ted is in fact calling from the parochial house on Craggy Island. However, at no stage are we told where the scene with the soldiers is set. Obviously the priests Ted calls are visiting Northern Ireland when they encounter the Army patrol and the gun runners.

And God Created Woman - S1-E5

Revealing mistake: In the scene were Mrs Doyle is listing the rude words and phrases used in one of Father Ted's favorite author's book's, she goes through all of them fine. Apart from the last one, when she says "Get your boll*cks out of my face" you can hear her laughing in the word "boll*cks" before she exits the room.

And God Created Woman - S1-E5

Trivia: In the scene where Mrs. Doyle is telling Ted about the profanity in the book, several of the swears were not in the original script but were introduced by Pauline McLynn during filming. You can see Dermot Morgan trying not to laugh at her last line "Ride me sideways", which he hadn't been expecting.

Tentacles of Doom - S2-E3

Question: In this episode, the actor who plays the priest who turns into a hippy seems to drop his accent occasionally, for instance when he says "Blind faith, that's all we have to go on", his accent sounds more London-ish when he says "go on". Is this normal for an Irish accent or what?

Gary O'Reilly

Chosen answer: It's characteristic of someone putting on a fake Irish accent.
