Continuity mistake: When Margaret comes into Henry's office, interrupting the "training film" Hawkeye's part flips from being on the left to the right and back.
Continuity mistake: As the camera looks at the door of the Officer's club while the General and Hawkeye talk, other tents can be seen behind them. As Hawkeye brings in the enlisted personnel, the area is totally empty.
Continuity mistake: In Henry's office, the white cloth Radar has on his ears changes positions from shot to shot.

Continuity mistake: When Klinger's in Father Mulcahy's tent he pulls up a chair and when he sits down he places his purse on his lap, but in the closeup the purse strap is now around his left arm.
Continuity mistake: While Trapper and Hawkeye are lying on their cots, one by one everyone joins them in the Swamp, and in Trapper's closeups the "USA sterilized" that's printed on his pillow is upside down, but in the wideshots his pillow's flipped over with the print right-side up.
Continuity mistake: When in the Swamp, and they show Hawkeye numerous times, the door to the stove is open, then closed, then open, etc.
Continuity mistake: When Frank walks into the Swamp and puts down the typewriter, in shots facing Frank the manila envelope's open flap faces up, but in shots facing Trapper and Hawkeye while they're pretending to argue the envelope is flipped over with the flap facing down, then when Frank walks back to the envelope the flap faces up.
Continuity mistake: While Hawkeye and Trapper are playing shotglass checkers Frank lathers shaving cream onto his face, but in his closeups the thick foam is dried out.
Answer: The C-42 was a military variant of the Douglas DC-2. Very few C-42's were built, so it's questionable that Potter would specifically have seen that particular model, but, given his military background, it's not entirely unreasonable that he might use the military designation even when the aircraft in question is actually a civilian DC-2.
