Visible crew/equipment: In the opening scene where General Clayton is explaining the 4077 to the psychiatrist, the scene changes to the outdoor set and the camera pans to the right. As the camera pans past the hospital, a white 1970s era shuttle van can be seen driving into the set in the upper right corner of the screen. (00:01:35)
Continuity mistake: Margaret is shampooing Frank's hair; she raises her foam covered hands to allow him to kiss her. The camera angle changes and her hands are nearly foam-free. (00:03:25)
Visible crew/equipment: While in the mess tent, when Henry introduces Hildebrand to Margaret it cuts to Henry as he says that she's the best head nurse in Korea, and at the top right corner we can see the open edge of the tent set and what's behind it.
Visible crew/equipment: After we hear General Clayton in the voiceover talking about how it sometimes seems like Henry is Radar's clerk, during this scene in Henry's office we can see the shadow of moving film equipment - likely the boom, at the top, left side of the screen.
Visible crew/equipment: Right after the opening credits, in the first shot as the words "Directed by Jackie Cooper" appear onscreen, the shadow of the moving boom mic can be seen at the top, left side of the screen.
Visible crew/equipment: In the swamp, behind the General, you see a hole in the tent that disappears a second later. In that second, you see a boom mic.
Continuity mistake: When the General comes up, Pierce and Trapper are walking away toward the camera's left. When Pierce calls for the General's attention he is shown gesturing to the open door. Problem is, that they should be looking over their left, not right, shoulders, and we should see the inside, not outside, of the door.
Continuity mistake: The crew is getting the bad news in Henry's office when Radar reports more choppers. From behind, Henry starts to react, and when the angle changes he reacts again.
Continuity mistake: While talking to Hildebrandt, Henry smacks his hands together while saying "Gee, whiz!" When the angle changes, his hands are on the desk.
Audio problem: In Blake's office, he's talking to Hildebrandt about Klinger, and the camera does a close up on Blake. You hear him say "Of course", and his mouth is moving a little, but not forming the words.
Continuity mistake: Usually when you see Pierce, his hair is parted on the left side. When he is nibbling on the nurse's neck in the Swamp, his hair is parted on the right. Then the next time he's seen, it's parted on the left again.
Continuity mistake: When Margret puts The Gun belt around Frank's waist, it is twisted in the back. After the cut, it is righted. (00:02:30)
Continuity mistake: When Hawkeye hits on the nurse after Charlie's first flyover, his beach chair instantly folds itself up. (00:06:40)
Continuity mistake: When Hot Lips calls General Clayton to her tent, he closes the door twice. (00:11:45)
Revealing mistake: When Charlie drops the bomb on the General's jeep it is obvious that the jeep is already burnt and mangled when the explosion starts. (00:14:15)
Other mistake: During this episode, Trapper and Hawkeye keep switching Frank's pistol with other things. When Frank's training his South Korean platoon, Trapper, Hawkeye, and Radar show up all decked out, and while Hawkeye's telling Frank that using the anti-aircraft gun on the compound will draw enemy planes, etc., there's a pistol in Frank's holster. When Frank turns around, we see that Trapper's right arm is bent over his fly swatter the entire time until he steps away from Frank, and when Frank draws from the holster what he believes is the pistol, he pulls out a plunger, and although it's funny, Trapper never actually had the opportunity to switch the pistol with the plunger, nor did Hawkeye or Radar.
Factual error: Out by The Gun, Hawkeye's Captain insignia on his garrison cap is missing the lower corner of one bar. So, it would be considered unserviceable, that is, unfit for use, and should have been replaced with a new insignia.
Suggested correction: While that is true by the Army's standards, it is entirely in character for Hawkeye not to give a flying you-know-what about the state of his insignia.
True, but even he knew that correcting it sooner rather than later would be wise. But, as always, I bow to your knowledge.
Continuity mistake: In Henry's office, Burns tosses the stapler toward Radar, and it flips midair. When it falls Ito the file Radar has, it flies level, that is, not twisting in the air.
Continuity mistake: As Hawkeye and Trapper leave the Swamp to watch 5 O'Clock Charlie, Hawkeye is carrying a folding chair, and Trapper has the thermos and glasses. At the show, they both have folding chairs.
Audio problem: As Radar sets the clock back to 4:30, you hear ticking. The clock is electric, and wouldn't make a noise like that.
Suggested correction: Electric clocks do not necessarily lack a ticking sound. Depending on their construction, they may or may not have it. Older clocks are actually more likely to produce some sort of audible ticking sound, because the precise motor speed regulation required to build a clock with sweep seconds is much more difficult than producing an oscillator that outputs precisely one pulse every second (even if the clock in question does not have the actual second hand, that would still be true).
I bow to your observation and stand corrected. Thank you.
