Continuity mistake: Casey's glasses go from dark framed to metal framed and back as he says goodbye to Hawkeye.
Continuity mistake: At the end, Casey comes over to say good bye to Hawkeye. As he stands there, the glasses he wears go from round, speckled-brown frames to silver oval, and back.
Continuity mistake: When the Swinging Surgeons are performing during the charity no-talent night, Radar's drum kit is set up differently between the wideshots and closeups.
Continuity mistake: When Henry is put on the table, he rolls onto his back while requesting gas. After a cut to Hawkeye, he's on his stomach.
Continuity mistake: After Hawkeye and Trapper cut the bomb wires, Trapper kneels down to see if it's still ticking, and his hand disappears from his helmet. (00:23:05)
Continuity mistake: Right after Radar tells Henry to forget about the game there's an explosion, and when Radar shouts, "More on the way!" everyone ducks and we see Henry's diploma up on the wall, but when it cuts to a different angle the diploma has vanished before the room even shakes or the heater's stovepipe falls.
Continuity mistake: While Hawkeye holds the tail assembly, Trapper cuts the wires. In the closeup, he cuts the wires a few inches from the connectors. In the wide shot, the wires were cut closer to the bomb's body.
Continuity mistake: At lunch, when Frank is getting his own back against Hawkeye, in the long shots of the table the plate of bread is beside Henry and in the closeups it is in front of Trapper. (00:11:30)
Continuity mistake: In the mess tent, after Radar uses the ketchup he puts the cap back on, but while Hawkeye and Trapper tease Radar about his hearty appetite, when it cuts to Radar's closeups the cap is off the ketchup, but then it's back on in the wideshot.
Continuity mistake: After the opening credits it cuts to Hawkeye, Trapper, Radar, and Ugly John playing poker in the Swamp and they're all wearing their uniforms when they run out to the incoming choppers, but what we see next is the same footage from the Pilot that's shown in the opening credits, with Hawkeye and Trapper wearing Hawaiian shirts as they meet the choppers.
Continuity mistake: In the storage tent, between wide shots and close ups, the rank insignia on Blake's hat goes from centered to over his right eye and back a few times.
Continuity mistake: In the mess tent, when Frank asks Hawkeye why he makes his life so miserable in the OR, notice that in the wideshots there's a silver pitcher, napkin holder, etc. On the table between Trapper and Margaret who are facing each other, but in the shots facing Margaret and Frank, and also Trapper and Hawkeye all of those things vanish and then reappear.
Continuity mistake: Margaret is shampooing Frank's hair; she raises her foam covered hands to allow him to kiss her. The camera angle changes and her hands are nearly foam-free. (00:03:25)
Continuity mistake: When the General comes up, Pierce and Trapper are walking away toward the camera's left. When Pierce calls for the General's attention he is shown gesturing to the open door. Problem is, that they should be looking over their left, not right, shoulders, and we should see the inside, not outside, of the door.
Continuity mistake: The crew is getting the bad news in Henry's office when Radar reports more choppers. From behind, Henry starts to react, and when the angle changes he reacts again.
Continuity mistake: While talking to Hildebrandt, Henry smacks his hands together while saying "Gee, whiz!" When the angle changes, his hands are on the desk.
Continuity mistake: Usually when you see Pierce, his hair is parted on the left side. When he is nibbling on the nurse's neck in the Swamp, his hair is parted on the right. Then the next time he's seen, it's parted on the left again.
Answer: The C-42 was a military variant of the Douglas DC-2. Very few C-42's were built, so it's questionable that Potter would specifically have seen that particular model, but, given his military background, it's not entirely unreasonable that he might use the military designation even when the aircraft in question is actually a civilian DC-2.
