One Son (2) - S6-E12
Corrected entry: At The End of the season 1 finale, The Erlenmeyer Flask, CSM is seen placing the alien embryo (pickled in a jar) in a box somewhere deep in the Pentagon's storage facility - yet in season 6's One Son, the embryo is back in the flask, in the freezing solution where Scully found it in the first place. (00:30:35)
Within (1) - S8-E1
Corrected entry: Doggett says that Mulder and Scully first met Gibson Praise in 1997. As we saw in the season 5 finale "The End," Mulder and Scully first met Gibson Praise in 1998. (00:35:00)
Correction: The X Files timeline is somewhat confusing, since the show began in 1993 but the Pilot lists the year as 1992. However, at The End of The X Files: Fight the Future, the telegram that Cancer Man receives lists a date of September 6, 1997. The episode, "The End" occurs immediately before the movie in The X Files timeline, so Doggett was in fact correct.
Corrected entry: The tv-esque footage of the show is supposed to be being recorded as the investigation goes on, it's not pre-recorded or supposed to be airing as we watch, yet there is a perfectly placed 'blur circle' following the face of the prostitute. That kind of thing is generally done when filming is done and being edited for tv; even if for whatever reason they decided to blur her face during filming, the blur point follows her face perfectly despite her flailing and panicking, which is highly unlikely.
Corrected entry: Maleeni and Billy are released from prison at The End, allowed to just walk free even though they have robbed a bank. Mulder says they can't complete their EMT scam without the card with his thumbprint on it but their inability to complete their intended crime wouldn't be grounds enough to let them go; they still robbed the bank and set up the EMT theft.
Correction: There was not enough hard evidence to link them to the bank robbery, specifically as the robbery occurred while they were believed to have been in their holding cells. Their intention to steal money over the computer was speculation on Mulder's part, which would not be enough to convict them.
Corrected entry: In this episode, Scully has a flashback in which she tells Mulder that she's learned she is barren, after which Mulder confesses he knows and the reason is because her ova were removed and stored in a government facility. However, in the earlier episodes 'Christmas Carol' and 'Emily', while appealing to adopt her biological daughter Emily, Mulder tells the appeal guy right in front of Scully that her ova were removed by doctors and she is shocked. If the flashback scene happened before the Emily episodes, she wouldn't have been shocked when Mulder told the appeal guy about the ova removal and if it was after it, she would already know about it because Mulder told her in those episodes. The flashback makes no real sense.
Corrected entry: Towards The End of the episode Scully is listening to the tapes from Mulder's hypnosis sessions. She has listened to one side of the tape and turns it over to start on the other side. However when there's a closeup of the tape recorder the tape is halfway through the B-side.
Correction: It is likely that the recording did not take up the entire tape.
Corrected entry: This whole episode takes place six months after Valentine's Day (August) when the episode aired in January. Another thing wrong is that Mulder and Scully are on the case when they're currently off the X-Files. The mayor even said that the FBI gave the case to them.
Correction: The date an episode takes place does not always have to coincide with the air date. The case they are sent to investigate by the FBI is a fraud claim against the Rain King, not an X-File. They both still work for the FBI.
Corrected entry: When Scully calls Mulder the first time, he is watching what sounds like a porn movie in his office. During the conversation, he goes to turn off the TV which shows swarming bees. But you can see both his arms are down. Neither is holding the phone on which he is talking to Scully. (00:07:35)
Correction: I don't need to use my hands to hold a phone. I can pin it between my head and shoulder.
Corrected entry: Mulder states that the animals are being returned miles from their cages by an "astrological" variation. The correct word should be "astronomical."
Correction: Mulder is offering the woman some pretty wild theories, so an "astrological" as opposed to an astronomical variation isn't unreasonable, given the context.
Corrected entry: Lt. Col. Marcus Aurelius Belt is shown on a shuttle mission in 1977, but the space shuttle was first flown in 1981.
Correction: What is shown is a flashback of Belt on what looks like a Gemini mission from the 1960's.
Without (2) - S8-E2
Corrected entry: In an earlier season, X said that a device for piercing the back of the neck was needed to kill the alien bounty hunter, because a gun shot "wouldn't do." However, Scully is able to kill the bounty hunter with a gunshot to the back of the neck. (00:37:20)
Correction: X probably meant that a gunshot to the body, not a gunshot to the neck, wouldn't work.
Corrected entry: After Mulder says he is going to try and catch Phoebe to warn her about their suspect, Scully is talking on the phone, she looks at her watch which has a digital display and pointers. The digital says it's 4:22 but the pointers say it's 4:05.
Correction: My dad has a watch like that. The two modes are never the same time, and are usually off by 15-30 minutes. Maybe Scully's watch is broken, and she can't use the winder to fix the hand display.
Corrected entry: When the repair man looks down from the pole at the clones, they all have shadows but the pole doesn't have a shadow.
Correction: The pole does have a shadow, but it's just out of camera range.
Corrected entry: During the interview with Fellig, Agent Ritter gives the date as January 4th [1999]. Since the episode started the day before, it seems harsh for the FBI to be forcing Mulder and Scully (and several other agents) to be doing background checks on the Sunday after New Year's.
Correction: Ok, New year is the passing from December 31st to January 1st. So if you say the interview was on the 4th and they met the day before meaning the 3rd they werent working right after New years. It was in fact 2 days after New Year.
Corrected entry: In this episode, we see a flashback of Melissa and Dana opening presents at midnight on Christmas. They each get identical cross necklaces. But earlier, in "Ascension," Dana's mother tells Mulder that she gave Dana the necklace for her fifteenth birthday.
Correction: This sequence is a dream, not a flashback, which accounts for the conflict.
Corrected entry: The X Files office is in the basement of the F.B.I. headquarters. There are no offices in the basement of the J. Edgar Hoover F.B.I. building in actuality.
Correction: This is an in-joke. The X Files are files that cannot be explained, and technically, people believe that the phenomena contained therin 'doesn't exist' - So it would make sense for the X Files office to be in a place that doesn't exist also.
Corrected entry: In "Roland," Scully tells Mulder she has two brothers. But in later episodes, such as "Emily," the only brother ever mentioned is Bill. Then, in the episode where Mulder and Fletcher switch bodies, Mulder tries to convince Scully that he's not Fletcher and says "Your mother's name is Margret, your brother's name is Bill, and he hates me." What happened to her other brother?
Correction: Scully has two brothers but Mulder has only met Bill. Her other brother is seen at times though, for example in "One Breath" from season three. His name is Charles.
Correction: The Smoking Man, who put the embryo in the pentagon's vast storage room in season 1, has direct access to the pentagon at all times and is extremely high up in the ranks of the conspirators, it's more than plausible that he could have taken the embryo back from storage and returned it to the freezing containment if it was needed for further tissue/testing.
