Continuity mistake: The drawing image of the killer loads twice on the computer. You can see it start to load in the first shot which is closer. In the very next shot it loads from nothing again.
Continuity mistake: Later in the episode a man bangs on an air conditioner to try and stop it from making noise. In the first scene you can tell air is moving because the streamers are moving. After he bangs on the unit the streamers stop moving. The air conditioner is still on. (00:32:30)

Continuity mistake: When Skinner walks away from the conference table, his armchair is only slightly turned left from its normal position towards the table, but when he comes back with additional documents, the armchair is turned left to the position perpendicular to the table. (00:10:20)

Continuity mistake: From The Beginning of the episode Scully has loose strands of hair on both sides of her head, but when she turns off the lamp and is attacked by locusts, her hair is perfectly combed. (00:02:35)

Continuity mistake: When Skinner enters the embassy garage, the rear left window of his car is closed, but after the shot of the Tunisian diplomat the window suddenly becomes open. (00:21:30)
Continuity mistake: When the rain starts to fall, Daryl opens the window and reaches out his left hand. However, in the next shot facing the windscreen he holds the steering wheel with both his hands. (00:03:05)

Continuity mistake: When Scully and Mulder run away from the dogs, the gate is fully open, while in the previous and next shot only the door is open. Plus their car standing in front of the gate is missing. (00:09:30)
Continuity mistake: The wedding ring Ariel is holding in her outstretched hand is either vertically protruding from the palm of her hand or is hidden inside of it, depending on the shot. (00:40:25)
Continuity mistake: While Mulder's waiting for Langly and Frohike to unlock the exit door, Gray-Haired Man keeps shooting at the glass door, and the increasing bullet damage on the glass doesn't stay consistent as more damage occurs, and changes between the closeups and wideshots.
Answer: As he stated many times throughout the series, Mulder needed Scully to be sober and skeptical. Whenever Scully's skepticism wavered and she started questioning her own rationality, Mulder would try to restore her sense of skepticism, because he needed her to be clear-thinking.
