In the shot right before the close-up when the police siren is heard, the pursuing Rockford passes by a teal pick-up and road work equipment. Rockford keeps driving through a mostly straight road for a while, and eventually pulls over, looking with anger at the Porsche driving off...and past the pickup and equipment from before. Continuity mistake: In the hotel room, Jim spots the gun under the curtain. The gun is underneath a concave pleat of the curtain in the wide angle, convex in the close-ups. (00:04:25)
Continuity mistake: After the police inform Rockford that Prentiss Carr's cause of death was suicide, when it cuts to the closeup of Carr's widow pouring the drink, the woman in the closeup has long nails and is not wearing a belt. In the following shots Janet Carr is wearing a long red belt and her nails are shorter. (00:08:50)
