The contrast between the main shot and the rear projection is different too.

These scenes with the main actors appear to be filmed in front of the background as they cast shadows on the other film and the lighting is different. This was most likely done because of budget limitations.

Revealing mistake: A split second before the black guy gets hit with the crutch by Michael Douglas' wife, you will notice he already has blood on his face prior to being hit. Though he gets hit before, the first time there is no blood. (01:15:55)

Revealing mistake: During the ending sequence, just as J.T. Walsh is pushing the truck on the bridge, there is a shot looking at the front of the semi and you can see that it is not J.T. Walsh driving. The stunt man is noticeably heavier than J.T. is, and his hair is messier.

Revealing mistake: Towards the beginning of the movie Starsky and Hutch are driving the Torino and they get a call over the police radio. There is a shot of the car pulling a u-turn on a bridge from above. Look at the bottom of this shot, you can see tire marks where they practised the move before. (00:17:10)
