Deliberate mistake: When Buzz Lightyear demonstrates his "flying" abilities in front of the other toys, his left wing would have clipped the car track entering the loop-de-loop, and the right wing would have hit the track when leaving the loop.(00:18:50)
Factual error: The scene where Nightfox steals the Faberge Egg is all wrong. A laser security system must have a photoelectric receptor at the other side to detect if somebody pass between the two devices. As shown in the film, the laser beams points everywhere, so the system can't work and somebody could cross a beam without starting the alarm. Even if it was some weird system based on measuring distance it wouldn't work - if the laser hits the floor at an angle it won't bounce back to the source, it will reflect towards the ceiling.
Plot hole: During the filming of one of the scenes, why is Slater shocked that Kit really has plutonium? Since he doesn't know that Kit is being filmed without his permission, he should have been expecting what he said.
Continuity mistake: When they are filming the scene on the highway, where Slater is going backward with his car, Kit's driver has a gray shirt, but when we see them from the outside a few shots later, he has a black shirt.
Visible crew/equipment: When the crazy woman who said that Edward comes from hell leaves the backyard, you can see the reflection of a crewmember on the left side of the window.
Trivia: Kerry Conran first started this film with a low budget. He wanted to make a film with his friends and his family in his house, but it became too long to achieve. Producer Jon Avnet heard about the six-minute film and was deeply impressed, so he approached Conran with the idea of turning it into a full-length production.
Trivia: When the army send an emergency message to Joe Sullivan, the call comes from a huge radio tower sitting on the top of the Earth and consists of visible radio waves. It is a reference to RKO Radio Pictures' logo.
Continuity mistake: When the Martians are attacking the people in Nevada, the truck which Natalie is on falls to the ground, but when Jason runs to save her it's back on its wheels.(00:41:25)
Plot hole: If the president thinks it's so important that the Martians comes to the Congress to present their excuses, why didn't they bring the translating machine?(00:52:35)
Continuity mistake: When the two boys finds the dead Martian in their bedroom at the end of the film, there's that green stuff on his brain but in the next shot, when they push the Martian and he falls into the street, the brain is clean.(01:39:10)
Trivia: At first, the title was simply "The World of Tomorrow," but has been changed so as not to be confused with another 2004 production, "The Day After Tomorrow."
Continuity mistake: When Byron, Barbara and the others are going to escape from the casino, the Martians break a wall behind them. The hole is different in the following shots.(01:14:40)
Continuity mistake: When Byron's ex-wife is driving the bus, she sees her two sons playing at the arcade, when the bus passes right in front of the building. She makes an announcement to the passengers, then she brakes, but the bus stops right in front of the arcade.(00:15:25)
