Corrected entry: There is a Holstein cow in the manger scene near the beginning of the movie. Holsteins were created through cross-breeding in Germany in the 19th century, so its appearance at Jesus' birth is impossible.

M*A*S*H (1970)
Corrected entry: In the scene where Major Frank Burns is taken away, there is a shot of an American flag with 50 stars. During the Korean War, the flag had only 48 stars.
Correction: There is a scene where Maj. Frank Burns is taken away where a flag is seen flying. However, it is a 48-star flag. Every other shot of a flag in the film is also a 48-star flag. There is never a 50-state flag seen and this entry is just wrong.

Barry Lyndon (1975)
Corrected entry: In the scene where Barry is in the rowboat on the lake, there is a yellow Labrador retriever in the boat. Yellow Labs were not bred until around 1900.
Correction: While it's true that the yellow Labrador breed was first recognized by The Kennel Club in 1903, they were being bred before then. However, breeding for a color is different than the color occurring naturally. Labradors varied in colors greatly and yellow shades would have occurred.

Mutiny on the Bounty (1962)
Corrected entry: Francis Drake did not bring potatoes to the Old World. They were actually brought by the Spanish after the conquest of Peru.
Correction: Francis Drake was in fact the first to bring the potato to England. Unless you want to point out an error involving the species of potato or dates that are wrong or deliberately changed for the movie, there is no factual error.

Crimson Tide (1995)
Corrected entry: Hunter gives the order to fire torpedoes 2 and 4. The external shot shows the torpedoes firing from opposite sides of the sub. On all US submarines, tubes 2 and 4 are on the same side.
Correction: The Alabama does launch from tubes on the same side. It is the enemy Akula that launches from opposite sides in that sequence.
Just watched that scene on YouTube (which may or may not have been a thing when this correction was originally posted). Alabama fires from opposite sides, like the Akula. It just shows both bays on the starboard side open.

The Polar Express (2004)
Corrected entry: When Hero Boy is about to leave the car containing the abandoned toys, it's plainly visible that there are two doors, one on his car, and one on the next car. He goes through the door in his car, slams it behind him, and is immediately in the next car, having gone through only one door.
Correction: The car carrying the abandoned toys was the car Hero Boy, Hero Girl, and the conductor entered immediately after climbing off the locomotive's tender, meaning that it was the first car in the train. When Hero Boy fled the car and only slammed one door behind him, it was a time skip. It was meant to suggest that he ran frightened through the numerous (and changing amount of) passenger cars before reaching his, the second-to-last car of the train.

Goldfinger (1964)
Corrected entry: When Bond enters his hotel room he hangs his gun on a peg that is a significant distance away from the bath tub. When the assassin lands in the tub, the gun is suddenly within arm's reach.
Correction: He hangs his jacket on a peg that isn't near the bathtub. After the girl complains the gun pokes her when they kiss, he hangs the holster on the peg near the bathtub.

Star Trek: The Next Generation (1987)
Corrected entry: In the beginning of the episode, when they show the "previously on Star Trek: The Next Generation" segment, the Enterprise is shown at the abandoned shipyard, destroying the weapons transport ship instantly with a phaser blast. In the previous episode, the Enterprise only damaged the ship. The ship exploded a short time later due to the weapons it was carrying.
Correction: This is the abbreviated recap of the previous episode. It cuts the events of the episode into a few seconds. This is intentional and a common method in TV.

Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1986)
Corrected entry: The school used in the film is the same school used in 'The Breakfast Club'.
Correction: FBDO was filmed at Glenbrook High School, The Breakfast Club was filmed at Maine North HS (closed at the time of the filming).

Fringe (2008)
Corrected entry: When Dr. Bishop is using the special camera to capture the images on the dead woman's retina, he tells everyone to put on their goggles to protect them from the flashes. Once they find the image they need, everyone takes off their goggles, yet the camera is still flashing, and there are no ill effects.
Correction: Once they find the image they need, they are not looking directly at the flashes. It's like not looking directly at someone welding without wearing welding goggles. If you don't look directly at the welding flash, you don't have a problem, but can get retinal burn if you look directly at it unprotected.

Painkiller Jane (2007)
Corrected entry: How is it that Jane does not know that she can regenerate injuries? She's never gotten hurt in her entire lifetime?
Correction: She was injected with the Neuro 2.0 strain when she was in the Vonotek building (right before she went up the elevator) during the first episode. Before her first mission, she was not capable of rapid regenerating because she was not a Neuro yet.

Alien (1979)
Corrected entry: When Ash tries to kill the semi-conscious Ripley by choking her with the rolled-up magazine, she begins to gag before the magazine even touches her lips, even though there is nothing in her mouth or throat yet.
Correction: Ripley had the paper to her lips and was about to scream, but the paper was already in her mouth just when she made the attempt.

The Thing (1982)
Corrected entry: When MacReady is dictating his log into the tape recorder, in case no one is left alive, he stops the tape player at one point. He then starts the recorder again. If you watch closely, he presses only one button to start it recording. First of all, on these old style recorders, it was necessary to press both play and record at the same time for the machine to record. Not only that, when they show a closeup of him stopping the recording to play it back, both play and record are now depressed, without him having touched the machine again.
Correction: I thought this was the case too, but if you look closely, you see that when MacCready starts the recording again he does depress both buttons. It's hard to see because of the panning camera shot and the glass of whiskey he's placed on top of the tape recorder, but you can spot that he uses his index finger on the play button and his third finger on the record button.

Fantastic Four (2005)
Corrected entry: When Dr. Doom is trying to eliminate the Fantastic Four, he makes Ben 'normal', then he freezes Reed, incapacitating him, and then he believes he destroys Johnny with the missile. He then says, "Two down, two to go". He should have said, "Three down, one to go". He thought he had taken Reed, Ben and Johnny out of the picture and he had no way to know that Ben had regained his powers.
Correction: He took Ben's powers away and thought he had killed Johnny. That's two down. He was still in the process of taking out Reed but hadn't completely done so yet, so it wasn't three.

Green Lantern (2011)
Corrected entry: When Hal is getting beat up by the three guys who lost their jobs, it's consistently shown that three men are fighting him. When he hits them with the Green Lantern "fist", four men are shown crashing into various objects.
Correction: Actually they show the same guy hitting the front of the pick-up truck and bouncing off it (from one angle) then into the rear of the truck (from a different angle).

You Only Live Twice (1967)
Corrected entry: When Kissy returns to the volcano with Tiger, she has changed from her bikini. However, when everyone is fleeing the exploding volcano, she is back in her bikini.
Correction: She was wearing the same bikini the whole time. Upon returning to the volcano with Tiger, she had merely donned a shirt to wear over it. Just before the final escape, however, she seems to ditch the shirt off-camera (possibly because she knew of the imminent swim ahead).

Smallville (2001)
Corrected entry: Lana opens Lex's briefcase with two shots from a semi-automatic pistol at point-blank range, yet the glass table underneath the briefcase is completely undamaged.
Correction: How is this a mistake? The bullets hit their mark and flew off somewhere else. Since we don't see them after they're fired, there's no reason to assume that they hit the table.

A Christmas Story (1983)
Corrected entry: Ralphie's father complains after reading in the paper that "The Sox traded Bullfrog!" which is a reference to Chicago White Sox pitcher Bill Dietrich. Dietrich was released by the Sox, not traded, in 1946.
Correction: The Bullfrog he was referring to is a fictional character. He was traded for Shottenhoffer. There has never been a MLB player named Shottenhoffer.

The Last Airbender (2010)
Corrected entry: It is mentioned several times that only the Avatar can go to the spirit world, and speak with the spirits themselves. Yet, Commander Zhao, and several other humans, are able to not only find the Moon and Ocean spirits, but Zhao is even able to kill one of them.
Correction: There's a dfference between the spirit world and the spirit's forms in the real world. It is stated in the film that the water and moon spirits in the cave are spirits who have inhabited regular bodies on Earth. The spirit world is where the dragon spirit exists and where the spirits have real power.

Correction: The Holstein breed is in fact over 2,000 years old and originated in parts of the world that would become the Netherlands. It is very conceivable that since dairy cattle were so in demand that a few cunning merchants could easily have traded for these cattle.
