Corrected entry: Francis Drake did not bring potatoes to the Old World. They were actually brought by the Spanish after the conquest of Peru.

Mutiny on the Bounty (1962)
1 corrected entry
Directed by: Carol Reed, Lewis Milestone
Starring: Richard Harris, Marlon Brando, Trevor Howard, Hugh Griffith
Factual error: In the film, the mutiny occurs during the day, when Bligh allows a crewman to die of thirst. The actual mutiny occurred in the middle of the night, when Christian and several followers entered Bligh's cabin and awakened him.
Fletcher Christian: There'll be no more killing aboard this ship, not even Captain Bligh.
Captain Bligh: If that's an attempt to earn clemency, I spit on it.
Trivia: In the film, Bligh and Christian meet at the first sailing of the Bounty. In reality, they did not meet until the Bounty sailed from Spithead for Tahiti in December of 1787.

Correction: Francis Drake was in fact the first to bring the potato to England. Unless you want to point out an error involving the species of potato or dates that are wrong or deliberately changed for the movie, there is no factual error.
