The Bank Job (2008)

Factual error: The opening scene, set in 1970, is played over the song "Get it On (Bang a Gong)" by T. Rex. That song wasn't released until 1971. (00:00:25 - 00:02:00)

Major League (1989)

Factual error: When he bats, Jake uses a helmet with no earflap. In 1983, it was instituted that players must wear a helmet with at least one flap; however, it's possible that Jake is exempt from this rule under Major League Baseball's "grandfather clause," which allows any player who played before 1983 to continue using the flapless helmet. The Sandlot (1993)

Factual error: In his voiceover narration, Smalls says that Babe Ruth's "called shot" was made at Yankee Stadium in the bottom of the ninth inning in game 3 of the 1932 World Series. That play actually occurred in the top of the fifth inning at Wrigley Field. It's not just a character mistake; the event is too famous for him not to have heard or read about it growing up, especially since his stepfather is a Yankees fan.

1776 (1972)

Deliberate mistake: In the film, Martha Jefferson visits Thomas in Philadelphia. While this is factually inaccurate (she was actually at home recovering from a miscarriage), it was changed for the sake of drama.
