Continuity mistake: In the opening scene at the Arctic Circle, two of the workers are shown playing poker. The player on the right pushes the coin pile to the left side of the container. A couple of shots later, after the player on the left has claimed victory, the coin pile has suddenly moved to the middle. (00:01:35)
Continuity mistake: When Gru is making balloons with his balloon gun thing he attaches an inflated unicorn balloon to the door frame and an exterior shot of the front lawn is shown. This shot shows a playhouse on the right hand side of the lawn. Later on, when Lucy arrives at the house, the playhouse is no longer on the lawn. (00:03:30 - 00:07:45)
Continuity mistake: In the scene where Gru first meets Lucy Wilde, Gru takes out his freeze ray and fires it at Lucy. Lucy stops the freeze with a flame gun thing and then she walks over to him and tazes him. Gru then drops the freeze ray, but it disappears when she goes to put Gru in the boot of her car. (00:08:30)
Continuity mistake: When Doctor Nefario is having a send off, he begins to blast off in his scooter very slowly. The shot after he says "This may take a while", the Minions begin to leave the area, yet in the next shot, the other Minions have vanished completely. There was nowhere near any time for them to have left the area that quickly. (00:21:10)
Continuity mistake: One of the minions is shown dressed as a maid hoovering the floor. The hoover continues to move along the floor after the minion answers the door. The hoover is shown moving past the door. But when the next minion is shown, the hoover is now shown only just going past the door. (00:21:45)
Continuity mistake: When the Minion dressed as a maid answers the door, there is nothing next to it. When the shot returns to the door after the Minion has been taken, a umbrella and a holder for the umbrella have suddenly appeared. (00:21:50)
Other mistake: In the cupcake shop, Lucy crushes several cupcakes. These cupcakes have icing on them. But no icing goes on Lucy's hands at all. (00:24:35)
Continuity mistake: At the mall the double escalator in front of "Eagle Hair Club" appears and disappears several times between shots and scenes. (00:24:55 - 00:41:05)
Continuity mistake: The Mexican flag on El Macho's chest vanishes after the bakery scene. (00:27:30 - 01:06:15)
Other mistake: As Eduardo goes to leave the cupcake shop, Gru believes he could be El Macho and Eduardo leaves. Gru tells Lucy about El Macho for about 90 seconds, then Eduardo is seen from outside the cake shop window only just about to go up the escalator, when the distance between the shop and escalator is only a few meters. (00:27:55 - 00:29:25)
Plot hole: When Gru and Lucy are searching Eduardo's restaurant, Eduardo's pet chicken begins a fight with Gru and Lucy which involves a lot of screaming, breaking tables, the chicken battering Gru which was all very loud, yet Eduardo only finds out someone was in the restaurant as soon as he walks up to the door, despite all the noise from the fight between Gru, Lucy and the chicken. (00:34:20 - 00:36:10)
Factual error: In the scene where Kevin is floating, eating a banana just before he is converted in a monster, the water begins to spin in a clockwise direction, but Kevin spins in the opposite direction. He should spin in the same direction as the water. (01:02:45)
Continuity mistake: When Gru follows Eduardo through the corridors, he stumbles to find him dancing along a floor key pad to unlock the lift. It is also shown that if a key is pushed incorrectly, the key turns red and a weapon is launched at the person on the key pad. When he begins to activate the key pad, the first key he steps on is the key second to the left on the first row and continues the rest of the pattern. Gru then attempts to do the exact same sequence. The first key he steps on is the key second to the left on the second row, despite the fact that Eduardo actually triggered the first sound effect with the key on the first row, second to the left. Despite this, the sound effect is still correctly triggered. (01:03:40)
Continuity mistake: As soon as Eduardo finishes activating the floor key pad, he is shown standing half way between the start and the end of the floor key pad. Next shot, he is suddenly a few steps away from the end of the pad. (01:03:45)
Audio problem: As Gru attempts the dance floor key, some of the guacamole from his nacho hat falls out of the hat and lands on one of the keys which then triggers one of the sound effects. An axe then chops off the rear end of his nacho hat and lands on the part of the dance floor behind him, but no sound effect is made from the floor. (01:04:05)
Continuity mistake: After watching El macho activate the dance floor key to the lift, Gru then does the same thing. During the first attempt, Gru spills guacamole on the floor, his nacho hat gets sliced in half and more guacamole falls. He then throws the nacho hat to one side and tries again. But in the shot from above the guacamole on the floor has vanished. (01:04:10)
Continuity mistake: When Gru is attempting to unlock the floor key pad, he triggers an incorrect key and some fire is blown at him. Some smoke is left all over his face. Gru triggers another incorrect key and some darts are launched at him. The smoke is still there, but as he falls over, most of the smoke on his face has gone. The smoke on his right cheek is still there, but has still vanished from his face. (01:04:20)
Suggested correction: I watched the scene carefully. The smoke stains stay there the entire time. When he falls they are perhaps a bit fainter, but still there. When he walks into the elevator and turns toward the camera is very hard to say if all the stains are there or not due his wide smile, and that's only if you pause it.
Continuity mistake: When the elevator door opens to show El Macho's lair, Gru walks out and there is no-one in sight. A few shots later, El Macho has suddenly appeared behind Gru. There was no space behind Gru that El Macho could have hid behind. (01:06:00)
Other mistake: After Gru has left El Macho's lair, Gru goes to get the girls and finds Margo sitting at a table eating from a nacho hat that has guacamole in it. The hat is slanted sideways, but the guacamole remains in fixed position and never slides to the side. (01:09:20)
Continuity mistake: El Macho says that the volcano he was going to launch Lucy into was the same volcano he faked his death in earlier, but his volcano was in a large landscape, while the volcano Lucy and Gru went to was on a little island. (01:19:35)
