Continuity mistake: As Daniel is performs his card trick on the fan, there is a guy visible behind the woman who is behind the fan. He remains in his same position throughout the scene. Yet from a wide angle of the audience cheering at Daniel, the fan is visible, but the guy two places behind her has been replaced by a completely different person. (00:01:15 - 00:01:50)

Continuity mistake: As Merritt puts the wife to sleep, the first shot shows a woman visible in the background leaning against one of the columns then takes a step forward to talk to someone sitting. In the next shot from further away, the woman in the background is no where to be seen, then when the camera goes back to Merritt and the couple, the woman is there again. The further away shot had nothing with the camera angles. (00:02:05)

Continuity mistake: Merritt is doing a mental trick on a couple and starts by putting the wife into a sleep. In a long shot of the cafe, the husband is shown looking around the cafe. The shot cuts back to Merritt and the couple, and the husband is looking at his wife and Merritt. (00:02:10)

Continuity mistake: When Merritt begins his first magic trick, he puts a woman in "sleep" and places her head on his shoulder. In the first shot, her head is turned 90 degrees to the left. But in the next shot from a distance, her head is on his shoulder but isn't turned an inch. Her head goes to being turned 90 degrees once again in the next shot. Then back to not being turned when he lets go of her. (00:02:10)

Continuity mistake: When Merritt performs a trick on a couple, he takes out a note to see if the wife can take it. The way the note is held differs between shots. (00:02:15)

Continuity mistake: As the wife in the cafe attempts to take the dollar note from Merritt, Merritt's arm is shown to be raised as he holds the note. When Merritt says "If you can say you're name, you can have it", his arm is still raised holding the note, then as the wife begins to say her name in the shot following, his arm is suddenly lowered. Continuity mistake: After hypnotizing the woman in the cafe, Merritt goes over to her husband and begins to mind read him. Merritt begins to say "I'm picturing, don't tell me" and the man replies "Of course." When the man finishes saying "Of course", his head is shifted to the right about 40 degrees, but from the following reverse angle, his head is only shifted about one degree. (00:02:30)

Continuity mistake: Merritt begins to do a mental trick on a husband. As he says "I'm picturing, don't tell me", his right arm is raised. In the next shot, that same arm is suddenly lowered. (00:02:30)

Continuity mistake: When Merritt mind reads the cafe guy, he "picks up a woman's name" and starts saying "A - B - C - D - E - F - G - H - I - J - Janet." In the rapid shot of the man's mouth when Merritt says this shows his head in fixed position. But in the rapid shot of the man's eyes when Merritt says this now shows his head shifted a bit. Continuity mistake: When Merritt asks to the cheating husband who's Janet, he pushes his lips together and looks downwards. Next shot, he's suddenly looking up at Merritt. (00:03:00)

Merritt then wakes up the husband's wife and the few strands of hair along his fringe have decreased. (00:03:45)

Continuity mistake: After Jack has performed the magic trick with the spoon, a member of the crowd pulls a spoon and a snapped utensil from his pocket and shows it to the crowd, one in each hand. The two items are level with each other. The shot cuts and suddenly his right hand is lowered whilst the left hand is still raised. (00:04:55)

Continuity mistake: When Jack performs his magic trick on the spoon, a man figures out how he did it and demands $100. In a close-up of his wallet, the wallet is opened. But in the wide angle, the wallet is suddenly closed. (00:05:05)

Continuity mistake: When Jack gives the man the $100 for figuring out his trick, he leaves, walks down a flight of steps and turns around a corner and walks by a mysterious man. In the next shot, he is shown walking past the exact same corner at the edge of the steps a second time. (00:05:10)

Continuity mistake: When Jack is leaving the ferry, the man whose wallet Jack stole starts yelling at the people on the ground to stop him, pointing his right hand towards Jack. As soon as the next shot starts, Jack walking away from the ferry, with the man still visible in the far background and the man is now suddenly pointing with his left hand for a brief moment. Continuity mistake: For Henley's trick she has handcuffs chained to her and is dropped into a tank. In one of the reverse angles, she has both of her arms stretched out. But in a close-up of her arms, she now has her arms extended with them in front of her. She is saying the same line during all of the shots as this happens so it couldn't have had anything to do with several seconds passing between shots. (00:05:45)

Continuity mistake: Whilst Henley is unlocking the locks in the tank, she kneels down and begins tugging on the chain. She is shown holding onto two separate parts of the chain with each hand in one shot, but by the next shot, she is suddenly holding onto to one elongated piece of the chain with both hands. Continuity mistake: When Henley gets the "locks stuck" in the tank, she shouts for help. The timer goes past 49 seconds. A member of the audience runs over to the pipe 15 meters away from the tank, runs back to the tank and hits the pipe twice - the timer then shows 55 seconds. Running to get the pipe and return took longer than 6 seconds. (00:06:25)

Plot hole: Each of the four magicians are given a tarot card that has a date (March 29), a time (4:44pm), an address (45 East Evan St), and a city (NY). When they enter the building on that date, they know which apartment to go to. The problem with this is that it was never stated on any of the cards which apartment to go to once they reached 45 East Evan Street. (00:08:40 - 00:10:05)

Question: How could Thaddeus be convicted of the vault robbery? He didn't have means, motive, or opportunity for the crime. There wouldn't be any forensic evidence tying him to the crime.

Answer: He confessed under the pretense that he didn't want an expensive trial but really because he was in charge of the Eye all along.
