Continuity mistake: There is a scene at the school, where Quentin and Nancy are talking by the lockers. Quentin is wearing a Joy Division shirt. The jacket he is wearing over the shirt keeps changing depending on whether it's a closeup of Quentin or a shot of both him and Nancy. You can easily tell, as the band's name is partially obscured during closeup and fully revealed when it's further away. This changes back and forth several times during that scene. Quentin doesn't move enough to warrant the jacket changing so noticeably. (00:18:15)
Continuity mistake: In the diner, a guy puts a bunch of dollar bill and coins on the edge of the table. From the opposite angle its position changes.
Continuity mistake: When Nancy is in the drugstore and she keeps slipping in and out of sleep, Freddy is walking toward the camera running a finger blade on a pipe, and you can see there is a raised pipe joint just before the camera cuts to a rear view of Freddy, and the pipe joint that his finger blade was going to scrape has now gone. (01:06:15)
Revealing mistake: In the first scene in the diner, as Freddy pulls the knife across Dean's neck, look at where the blade should be. The blade should be visible in the small gap between his neck and the handle, but there is nothing there.
Continuity mistake: When Nancy is just opening her locker she is standing upright, camera cuts and she is bending over. (00:17:15)

Continuity mistake: Kris' blood splatters onto Jesse's left sleeve just before her body drops down from the ceiling. The tiny splatters disappear from the sleeve when Jesse bends down to see if Kris is okay. (00:29:55)
Continuity mistake: The amount of Kris' blood on Jesse's t-shirt changes constantly when he's running from Nancy's house. (00:32:30)
Continuity mistake: When Quentin opens the shoe box with photos in, he places the lid on the floor. In the following shots, the lids position changes from when he put it down. (01:12:35)
Continuity mistake: When Nancy puts her phone on the side by the bath it's position changes instantly between shots without anyone touching it. (00:43:40)
Continuity mistake: When Quentin leaves Nancy, Nancy puts her head on the lockers. Camera changes and she repeats the motion. (00:18:00)
Continuity mistake: When Chris and Jesse are in Chris' room and they are talking, from Jesse's point of view his hand is on Chris' face but when it's a shot from Chris' POV, Jesse's hand is on Chris' shoulder.
Continuity mistake: Kris is falling asleep during class. In her dream state, the room is flooded and Freddy is taunting her. In shots from the side, her hair is in front of both shoulders. In shots from Freddy's POV, her right shoulder is bare. (00:20:05)
Continuity mistake: After Nancy is thrown out of the cloud of blood onto the bed she raises to check she's OK, then she is pushed backwards, raises again turning her head around, but a frame later her head is resting on the pillow.
Continuity mistake: When Kris is killed, the amount of blood on the right side of her shirt, and especially on the pillow, increases and decreases randomly and drastically between shots.
Continuity mistake: In Kris's room, when she and Jesse find out they dream of Freddy, a turquoise coloured blouse on the right disappears.

Continuity mistake: At the diner, after the girl asks Dean "What's going on?", the camera shows Quentin drinking and then taking the glass away from his mouth. A frame later from a different shot he's sipping and removing the glass again.
Continuity mistake: At the diner, after Jessie leaves, Nancy arrives and asks what's going on while raising her right arm. A frame later the arm is lowered.
Answer: It's a nod to the original Nightmare on Elm Street where the same thing happened at the end of the movie to Nancy's mother. Also you have to remember that Gwen, whom he killed at the end, was part of the mob who burned him alive. Can we say revenge?
