Character mistake: During the military parade, check the lady behind the soldier on the left. She can't help stare at the camera the whole time before the soldiers arrive. (00:07:03)
Around the World in 80 Days (1956)
1 character mistake - chronological order
Directed by: Michael Anderson, John Farrow
Starring: Shirley MacLaine, David Niven, Robert Morley, Robert Newton, Finlay Currie, Cantinflas
Genres: Adventure, Comedy, Family, Fantasy, Romance, Western
Continuity mistake: Many times through out the film the red bag that contains all the money is not seen with the main group, even though they supposedly keep it with them at all times. The most noticeable example is when the two main characters first fly into Spain in the balloon and when the interior of the basket is visible the bag has simply vanished, but they have it again later.
Sir Francis Gromarty: One thousand pounds for an elephant? It's outrageous! You've been diddled.
Phileas Fogg: Undoubtedly. But it's not often one needs an elephant in a hurry.
Trivia: There was no balloon in Jules Verne's book. Thank to this film, most people now can't imagine "Around the World in 80 Days" without the balloon. (Gas balloon, not a hot air balloon as most people think).
