Revealing mistake: When the Explorers are entering the park through the large wooden gate, during the overhead angle you can see that the perimeter fence isn't continuous. (00:40:00)
Continuity mistake: When the cars are approaching the gates of Jurassic Park, there is an interior shot of the second car over Ellie's shoulder. In the car's rear-view mirror, there's nobody in the back seat. (00:41:35)
Visible crew/equipment: When the two Explorers start off on the tour of the island and the vehicles reach the Dilophosaur exhibit, there is a shot of Lex, Tim and Gennaro, looking out their Explorer's passenger-side windows. Right above their heads, fastened directly above each window, are wind-screen covered microphones. Obviously placed there to pick up actor dialog, neither of these particular mikes are seen again before or after this shot. (00:42:20)
Other mistake: When Alan, Lex and Tim are climbing over the perimeter fence and the buzzer begins to sound, Alan and Lex have come off the fence on the other side and Tim loses his footing further up on the fence. He begins to pull himself up, but in the very next shot, a person is seen coming down the fence closer to the ground in khaki shorts and boots. Tim hasn't moved from his position further up, so it can't be him, and Alan and Lex were already on the ground, and did not have khaki shorts on. (00:43:15)
Continuity mistake: When the TRex proves to be a no show, the windows of the Ford Explorers are clear. When Jeff Goldblum moves away from his window, the window is spotted with rain drops. (00:44:30)
Continuity mistake: When Ian uses water to explain chaos theory to Ellie he drops the first water droplet on Ellie's hand and she immediately begins to tilt her head to the left to follow it. The very next shot shows Ellie's head has turned to the right. (00:47:40)
Continuity mistake: As Dr. Settler is examining the triceratops, her left hand is very close to the dinosaur's left eye. After the cut, her left hand is nowhere near the dinosaur's eye. (00:48:00)
Continuity mistake: While they're in Explorer 5, when Ian shows Ellie an example of "unpredictability" her watch reads 5:00, then when Ellie examines the Triceratops' tongue her watch has sped forward and reads approximately 6:05, and a moment later when Dr. Harding hands Ellie the flashlight her watch has run backwards, and now reads approx 5:40. (00:50:40)
Continuity mistake: At the end of the scene with the sick Triceratops, just after Dr. Harding says, "I'm in a gas powered jeep", Dr. Malcolm's hands move from on his hips to on his chest, whilst Dr. Grant's hands move from behind his back to in front of him in the next shot. (00:51:40)
Revealing mistake: In the scenes where there's a video link to the docks shown on computer, there's a bar moving along the bottom of the screen, showing us that it's actually a video that's just playing on the computer. (00:52:05)
Continuity mistake: When Grant and Malcolm's car suddenly "just stops" you can see outside that they are in a thick dense jungle area. A few minutes later, the two parked cars are in a wide open area next to the T-Rex fence. (00:55:20 - 00:58:10)
Character mistake: The correct spelling of stegosaurus is steg"o"saurus yet when Nedry steals the embryos, the freezer says steg"a"saurus. (00:55:50)
Continuity mistake: When Nedry opens the first gate, the big one that the explorers entered, the jeep he is driving has a long, thin antenna on it that is waving about, and is standing up straight. At the next gate, it is tied down, and looks semicircular. Nedry wouldn't have spent time tying it down since he had to get to the docks. (00:56:00)
Continuity mistake: In an early scene, Samuel L Jackson's character is struggling to get the computers up, and he is smoking away. A full cigarette, then half, then full, all without lighting a new smoke. (00:56:25)
Visible crew/equipment: In the scene where Nedry crashes for the first time into the sign, just before he crashes the camera cuts to the interior of the car, you then get a very slight glimpse of a visible crew member carrying what seems to be a torch on the left hand side of the screen. (00:57:00)
Revealing mistake: During the whole scene of the T-Rex attacking the Explorers you see an illumination that moves from place to place. Sometimes the illumination is in the deep woods, and then it is behind the dinosaur when it is next to the vehicle. When the T-Rex first walks up and sniffs Tim and Lex's Explorer you can even see the light to the left of Rex's head. Since the power is out, no lights are on except the vehicle headlights and they aren't making that much light. Also, there is no moonlight since it is pouring with rain. (00:58:00 - 01:07:00)
Continuity mistake: Just after Timmy puts the goggles on and climbs into the back with Lex she says, "don't scare me" and turns to face him as he crawls into the boot. In the next shot she is immediately facing in completely the opposite direction, looking through the window. This is just before Timmy says, "oh cool, night vision". (00:58:35)
Continuity mistake: When the explorers break down outside the T-Rex paddock, Grant can be seen filling a flask with rainwater out of the door. When the angle changes the door is closed, then the angle changes again and he is still collecting rainwater with the door open (fixed in the VHS Widescreen and "Ultimate Collection" DVD box set versions). (00:59:00)
Continuity mistake: When Timmy hears the T-Rex stomping and takes off the night vision goggles, his hair in back comes up. In the next shot, his hair is down again. (00:59:15)
Continuity mistake: Just before the Tyrannosaurus Rex escapes from its pen, it drops a goat's leg on Lex and Timmy's car. When it comes back to attack them, the leg is gone. Then it appears and disappears. (01:00:25)
Chosen answer: They all left on the same boat Nedry was trying to get on with the embryos. You can hear Samuel L Jackson's character announce that the boat will be leaving at a specific time and everyone had to be there or be left behind.
