Continuity mistake: When the T-Rex is approaching, the lawyer runs into the bathroom stall and the roll of toilet paper is mounted horizontally. After Ian runs towards the bathroom away from the T-rex, in the shot of the panicked lawyer as he shuts the door the toilet paper is now mounted vertically, but when the T-Rex knocks down the stall walls, leaving the lawyer sitting out in the open, it is again mounted horizontally. (01:00:50 - 01:04:45)
Continuity mistake: When the T-Rex first breaks out of her paddock, she walks between the two Explorers which look to be only a short distance apart- maybe one or two T-Rex-steps between them. But later when the T-Rex is by Grant's Explorer and walks to the one with the kids in it (when Grant is saying "Turn the light off") she has to take about five steps to get there. (01:01:25)
Continuity mistake: When the lawyer jumps out of the Explorer (just before the T-Rex approaches) he leaves the Explorer door open. In the next two shots the jeep door is closed, but when the T-Rex shows up, the boy moves to the door and closes it. (01:01:40)
Audio problem: When the T-Rex is looking at the kids in the Explorer and suddenly makes her screaming sound, the kids jump and put their hands over their ears. But if you watch Tim, he doesn't make any reaction to the noise for about two seconds, then jumps like it just started. (01:02:50)
Continuity mistake: When Lex and Tim are in the car and the T-rex is attacking them, at one point the T-rex smashes through the roof of the car and the clear roof falls through on top of Lex and Tim. The T-rex breaks it with her teeth, but in the next shot it's whole again. (01:03:20)
Continuity mistake: When the T-rex breaks out, on the first car, the one with the kids in it, only the regular headlights are on. When it goes over the "cliff" all the headlights are on. (01:03:20 - 01:09:10)
Visible crew/equipment: When the T-Rex is knocking the car with Lex and Tim in it, he knocks it once, and then again making the Explorer flip over. If you watch carefully, you can see a big wooden pot containing one of the fake trees for the set and a stage light. This mistake has since been corrected on blu-ray. (01:03:40)
Revealing mistake: When the T-Rex flips the Explorer over, as it settles on its roof, the stunt control wires are visible at the rear of the vehicle. This mistake was corrected on blu-ray. (01:03:40)
Revealing mistake: When Dr. Malcolm gets thrown through the toilet door by the T-Rex, it is most obviously a stuntman that lands on the ground and gets covered in palm leaves. (01:04:40)
Continuity mistake: Right before Lex and Tim scream when the T-Rex roars at them Lex is holding a flashlight, in the first shot you can see that Lex is staying completely still with the flashlight facing towards the driver seat but in the next shot you can see that it is pointing out the passenger side window. (01:05:00)
Continuity mistake: When the camera zooms in on Dr. Grant helping Lex out of the crushed Explorer one of the hood level fog lights is missing (both should be missing considering the Rex stepped on the hood earlier), but they are both intact in the following scenes. (01:05:10)
Continuity mistake: When the T-Rex has come and nearly destroyed the car, Grant is trying to get Tim and Lex out of the car. Lex then screams and this causes Grant to turn around and cover her mouth. They are sitting on one side of a tyre on the car when Grant has his hat on. In the next shot (when the T-Rex has blown Grant's hat off) they are on the other side of the tyre. (01:05:30)
Continuity mistake: As the T-Rex is looking for Lex and Dr. Grant, Dr. Grant says "Don't move. He can't see us if you don't move." When he says this he is to the left of the wheel arch. Then, the T-Rex blows the hat off Dr. Grant who, with Lex is at the end of the upturned 4x4 when the T-Rex knocks it but in the next shot they have moved and are not at the end of the 4x4. They are back where they started, to the left of the wheel. (01:05:30)
Revealing mistake: When Grant is trying to save the two grandchildren in the over-turned Explorer, the T-Rex returns and surprises them. Grant holds the girl and tells her not to move. The Rex then starts smelling around and blows Grant's hat off. Well if you watch closely, you can see that the air that blows Grant's hat off doesn't come from the T-Rex, it comes from something under the Rex. (01:05:35)
Continuity mistake: In the scene just after the T-Rex snorts Dr Grant's hat off you can see him and Lex with their backs almost right against the overturned Ford Explorer. The T-Rex then butts upside down vehicle causing it to spin, only now, they have nearly a 3 foot head start. (01:05:35)
Revealing mistake: When the T-rex is attacking the vehicle and he has turned it over, the camera pans round behind the T-rex and you see through its legs, the ground all around the base of the beast is dry, but it's been pouring with rain for a while. (01:05:45)
Continuity mistake: In the T-Rex attack, once the car has flipped and the T-Rex is turning it round, it pushes it a full 180 degrees to end up beside the wall, then next shot and the T-Rex pushes it more to end up in the same place. (01:05:45)
Continuity mistake: When the tour trucks are stopped outside the Tyrannosaurus Rex paddock, we are shown a goat in a cage (inside the paddock) that appears to be at the same level as the road (outside). However, when Dr. Grant and Lex go over the wall, the ground is several stories down. (01:06:10)
Continuity mistake: Just as they start going down the wire into the T-Rex paddock, in addition to the problem mentioned above with the ground level suddenly dropping, take a look at the wire. In the first shot underneath them it's curling up and towards the camera, like it's caught on something, then it changes angle, and the wire's hanging straight down. (01:06:15)
Revealing mistake: When Alan and Lex are holding on to the cable, fearful of the Explorer that is about to come tumbling down at them, you'll notice that the car, if it had been filmed at the same time the actors where there, would have cut off Sam Neill's leg. Lex grabbed the wire in time but Sam doesn't move his leg enough. (01:06:45)
Chosen answer: Yes. The first opening day of Disneyland in California was catastrophic. The pavement was fresh and the sun was so hot high-heeled shoes actually sunk into the walkways. Counterfeit tickets were made, resulting in more people than the park had room for. They ran out of food and drinks. Bathrooms clogged and shut down. Many of the rides broke down on opening day. The Storybook Land Canal Boats had to be pulled by cast members in rubber boots. At the time, there were no guide rails for Autopia; some of the cars crashed into each other, making them inoperable. A gas leak in Fantasyland lead to the land being temporarily closed for part of the day.
