The Dark Knight

Continuity mistake: In the chasing scene where the Peterbilt truck hits a swat van, the truck's right front light is damaged. In the next scene, the light seems to be undamaged and then, damaged again. (01:14:00)

Continuity mistake: On lower 5th, the SWAT driver yells lock and load. When he does he has 2 cable ties in loops on his left hand side of his jacket that are exactly equal in size, both the loop and the "tail." We see outside the van for a few seconds. When the camera returns to the driver, the loops are now different sizes as evident by one having a longer "tail". (01:14:00)

Continuity mistake: During the chase on the Lower Fifth, the lead SWAT van is hit by Peterbilt on the passenger side (with the driver side facing the water). When the van crashes through the barrier wall and goes into the water, it is facing the wrong direction. (01:15:50)

Continuity mistake: One of the batpod arms guards/shields covering the handles falls off when Batman hits the truck when trying to avoid hitting the Joker. It's on the floor after that stunt, but when the Joker walks towards Batman, it's not there and gets reattached. (01:22:17)

Continuity mistake: While interrogating Joker, Batman holds him against the wall. Joker's hairstyle keeps swapping between two different styles, depending on the camera angle. (01:26:00)

Continuity mistake: During the interrogation scene, when Batman beats up Joker, Joker's hands are holding Batman's forearms upside down (from underneath). When the frame changes his hands are now on top of Batman's forearms, then it cuts back and his hands are under again. (01:28:00 - 01:29:00)

Continuity mistake: In the interrogation scene, when Joker sits on the floor, in one shot there's cracks all over the wall, but in the next one there is only one crack, and then again it is full of cracks. (01:29:20)

Continuity mistake: Just after Gordon gets a call from Batman saying, "Gordon, I have the Joker's location, Pruitt building" it cuts to an aerial shot of the building. On the building there is a construction banner with the logo DAVIS, with a blue anchor shape logo. Then later on, when Gordon has the binoculars and says, "Why would they choose a spot with such good weakness" there is another aerial shot where the building banner now read BOVIS, with a blue arch logo. (01:56:55 - 01:58:55)

Continuity mistake: The Joker fires a rocket-propelled grenade at the Tumbler, sending it crashing end over end. In the final tumble, as it loses the last of its momentum, it's rolling to rest on its roof. The camera angle then changes and it's suddenly regained momentum, rolling again so it lands on its wheels.

Continuity mistake: Joker and Two-face are in the hospital; Harvey is about to flip the coin to decide if the Joker lives or dies. The camera angle switches back and forth between the Joker and Harvey. From one angle Harvey is wearing the monitor clamp on his middle finger with the grey wire, from the other angle it is gone. It disappears and re-appears every time the camera angle changes.

Continuity mistake: When Harvey Dent loses his face and is lying in the hospital bed, when he's turned with the damaged side against the pillow, we can see the inside of the side of his mouth which should be damaged, but it's fully intact. Then when he turns it's suddenly burned away.

Continuity mistake: When Eric Roberts gets in the car with Two-Face, the car seems to go from being parked to going full-speed in a split-second. As he's getting in the car, Roberts is talking to his driver, and just as he sits down, he sees Two-Face, and the background appears to be moving by very quickly behind him. The car wouldn't have had time to even pull away from the curb yet.

Continuity mistake: During the big chase, at one point Batman, riding the Bat Pod, shoots out a glass doorway and proceeds to drive through an underground area loaded with storefronts. However, if you look, the editing makes no sense. He rounds a corner and shoots out the glass doors and is about 5 feet away from crashing through, then it cuts and he's in a completely different area with completely different lighting going up a ramp, then the camera cuts again and he bursts through the doors seen two cuts prior. The rest of the scene is edited normally, so it makes no sense why this moment has the Bat Pod teleporting to a completely different location for one short shot. A prior correction stated he was going up a wheelchair ramp, but this is complete hogwash - the ramp he's going up is in a different location nowhere near the doorway, and he's at least 50 feet from any structures, whereas moments prior he was only about 5 feet from the doorway.

Continuity mistake: After the Batmobile is hit by an RPG, Batman steers the car through the concrete barrier out of the traffic lane. As the car crashes through another wall, it lifts from the rear and the driver side rear tire is seen flying off the car. For the rest of the scene, all the tires are still attached.

Continuity mistake: When the Joker reveals to Batman that he's also got Rachel, Batman slams the Joker into the wall. The tiles behind the Joker's head have little cracks in them. Cut to another shot from the side, all the cracks are gone.

Continuity mistake: When the Tumbler has been hit by the Joker's RPG, the camera changes to showing the GPD van trying to regain control, but the Tumbler is nowhere to be seen in the foreground.

Continuity mistake: When Rachel and the Joker are talking up close in the scene where the Joker crashes Bruce's party, as the camera switches back and forth between Rachel and the Joker a small dark blemish (maybe food) disappears and reappears in his cheek.

Continuity mistake: When Bruce Wayne is talking to Alfred while having his arm stitched, in shots from the side he's looking downwards, but in other shots he's looking up towards Alfred. This keeps switching, shot to shot.

Jon Sandys

Continuity mistake: In the scene where Joker is visiting Harvey in the hospital, there is a shot of Harvey's face just before Joker takes his hand, and there is a tear on Harvey's cheek. However, in the next shot of Harvey's face, the tear is gone, and there is no trail where the tear would have fallen, and Harvey's hands don't go to his face.

Visible crew/equipment: During Batman's interrogation of the Joker, when he picks him up and slams him against the wall, for a very brief moment you can see the camera and the cameraman in the reflection of the mirror on the right. (01:29:10)

Question: Just how does Batman's grapple gun work? In Batman Begins, Fox says, 'It's magnetic' so I assume it can attach to anything metal. But the magnet would have to be extremely strong to support the weight of Batman, which begs the question how does it then detach from what he's fired it on? Also, where does he keep all the wire for it, and how does it have the magic ability to wrap its self around the Joker's ankle, when he's been thrown off the building and Batman shoots it at him?

Answer: The gun fires using compressed carbon dioxide as a propellant. The cable is wrapped in a coil around a motorized turbine within the gun. The pulley system in Batman's belt buckle allows him to reel himself in hands-free and still maintain equilibrium. There is a four-pronged grapple at the end of the cable. This is what is magnetized, creating an attraction between it and the monofilament cable. This ensures that the grapple will attach itself to the cable for a secure hold. This is why the magnet itself does not need to be especially strong to support any amount of weight. It also explains the relative ease with which it can be detached and its seemingly "magical" ability to wrap itself around various objects.
