Plot hole: At the beginning when the SWAT team breaks through the door in the basement and all the zombies escape they don't attack the SWAT team they just run up the stairs.

Dawn of the Dead (1978)
1 plot hole - chronological order
Directed by: George A. Romero
Starring: Ken Foree, Gaylen Ross, David Emge, Scott H. Reiniger
Continuity mistake: When a zombie's head is held up in the truck to be shot, there is a big splatter of blood down on the face of the soldier. He wipes a very small amount of blood off, but when he gets into the other truck he is perfectly clean. (01:05:05)
Trivia: Despite popular belief to the contrary, the bright-red "pastel" look of the blood effects in the film was an intentional decision by director George A. Romero. He wanted the film to have a slight "Comic-Book Aesthetic", and thus chose an extremely bright hue of fake-blood in order to better contrast with the muted-gray look of the zombies.
Question: Wouldn't the mall staff have removed any gas from the car parked inside the mall?

Answer: Not necessarily, there are many instances where cars are parked inside of malls or even stadiums for promotional purposes. It is a lot easier to have gas in the car if it needs to be moved or replaced for any reason.
