Suggested correction: It's pretty clear the town made a big deal of Superman's visit. There was a parade, a brass band, and the Mayor gave him the key to the city in front of a sizable crowd. It's not unreasonable to think Gus and Webster learned ahead of time, especially considering Webster ran an operation there.
Continuity mistake: After Clark kills the bad Superman, he has dishevelled hair but after he flies it's now perfectly combed again.
