Continuity mistake: As the Batcopter approaches the yacht, switching between the aerial view and inside the cabin, Batman is seen both standing outside ready to descend the ladder, and piloting. (00:06:25)
Continuity mistake: Catwoman tosses her black cat onto the table, where it lands on an empty expanse of red carpet with nothing nearby. But in the next shot, there's a gold statue sitting within inches of the cat. (00:15:30)
Continuity mistake: When the Batmobile arrives on the pier, it's parked with its front end facing open ocean (against the orange contraption on the dock) and its tail toward dry land. But when Batman and Robin return and phone the Navy, the car has reversed direction (tail now against the contraption). It's not likely Batman would arrive back at the pier, start the car, turn it around, park in the same spot, shut the car off, reopen the doors and then make a call, only to then drive away. (00:20:10 - 00:28:15)
Continuity mistake: When Bruce Wayne escapes from the United Underworld (Joker, Penguin, Riddler and Catwoman), he climbs to the top of their hideout (Ye Olde Benbow Taverne) and jumps from the top of the roof (to the water below). But in the next shot, Bruce now jumps from the edge of the roof and dives into the water. (00:54:20)
Continuity mistake: As the Batmobile arrives at the pier, it turns into a parking space, one of two available between a green VW Beetle and a white station wagon. In the close-up as Batman and Robin exit the car, the spaces on both sides of the Batmobile are empty. Judging by the location of the "Moby Dick" sign at the edge of the pier, the white wagon has disappeared. (00:59:05)
Continuity mistake: When the Batmobile is going to park (before the bomb scene) there is a sign saying "Mobey Dick Parking Only". When he is later carrying the bomb and passes by the Batmobile the sign is not there.
Continuity mistake: Near the end of the film we visit the office where the country representatives had argued earlier. Batman sets up the chemical equipment to bring them back. When it's done, where has the equipment on the seats gone?
Continuity mistake: During the fight on the submarine, just before Robin punches the Joker into the water there is nobody else on the deck. When the Joker is shown falling overboard, two other henchmen are sprawled out on the deck near him.
Continuity mistake: When Robin is saving Batman from the shark, and he is hanging upside down to spray the shark repellent, his position in relation to Batman changes between shots (almost too far to reach, then he is suddenly close).
Continuity mistake: When Batman discovers a bomb, he is driving towards the villain's hide out and you can see all the parking spaces are full except one, yet when he parks there are no cars on either side of him.
Continuity mistake: In the helicopter scene in the first 10 minutes of the movie, Batman moves down on the ladder and stops. In that first shot you can see that there are about 10-12 rungs below him. In the next shot there are only two. Shortly after he gets attacked by the shark there are now at least four rungs below him, and yet he has not made any attempt to move up or down.
Continuity mistake: The amounts of colored powder in the vials change in every shot; sometimes they are all equal, other times there are large differences between them.
Continuity mistake: When Batman and Robin are trapped on the buoy, they can see the periscope for the submarine sticking above the water, yet whenever a torpedo is launched, it is shown approaching from a distance much further away.
Continuity mistake: When the villains are checking to see if Batman and Robin were hit by the torpedo, one shot has the submarine itself surfacing but in the next shot only the periscope is above water.
Continuity mistake: When the officials are being dehydrated, close ups of the liquid in the dehydrater show the level increasing up to about 75% but far away shots show the level steady at about 20%.
Continuity mistake: Before the final torpedo, the projector lenses are out. After the explosion, the Batboat is gone, and the projector is again concealed. Batman didn't have time to put the cover on.
Continuity mistake: Toward the end of the fight scene on the deck, knotted ropes suddenly appear.
Continuity mistake: After Robin gets rid of a goon, Joker comes toward him. After Joker misses with a swing, Robin pops him and he starts to go overboard. A second later he goes over again.
Continuity mistake: When boarding the sub, Robin ties the Batboat off to keep it in place, but it disappears when the fight breaks out. Also, they come aboard well aft of the forward hatch, but a moment later, they're just a couple feet away from it, walking towards the Conning tower.
Continuity mistake: As Joker uses the dehydrator, the amount of water in the container varies between shots from almost empty to almost full and back.
Answer: The timeline of the movie is important to consider. The 1966 film began production while season 1 of the TV series was being aired. Eartha Kitt didn't play Catwoman until season 3. According to the TV show "Biography", Newmar was suffering from a back injury and unable to reprise her role for the movie. But she was able to recover by the time they started shooting the 2nd season. So, for the movie they hired Meriweather.
