Continuity mistake: At the end of the movie when the crew are in the boats going after Moby Dick, the sky changes throughout the entire scene. At moments it is sunny, then cloudy, then overcast.
Continuity mistake: During the first "Nantucket Sleigh Ride" with the very first whale harpooned, one of the three ships attached to the whale must cut their rope to save a man who falls overboard. In the following shot, there should only be two taught ropes attached to the whale, but there are still the original three.
Continuity mistake: When Moby Dick first attacks the Pequod, the top of one of the masks breaks and falls on a crew member. But a minute later as the Pequod begins sinking into the whirlpool, all three masts are still intact.
Continuity mistake: During the 1st whale chase, at different times, the boats chasing the whale were facing opposite the direction the whale was swimming - it was all an effort to do close-ups of the actors working the oars.
