In the shot of him saying "No", Kurt can be seen in the background with his left hand placed beside his right hand. Continuity mistake: Antonius switches on a projector and begins lecturing about Lehmbruck. In the wide shot, he places his hand over the top of the projector. At first, he has the bottom of his wrist placed against the projector. When the shot cuts to a closer angle of him, the right side of his hand is placed against the projector. (02:11:11)
Continuity mistake: When Antonius is giving the lecture about Lehmbruck, just as he says "Almost as if it were still divine", the woman sitting in front of Kurt has her hand against her chin and her head shifted to the side. When the shot cuts to Kurt, the woman in front of him no longer has her hand against her chin and her head is not shifted. (02:11:20)
Continuity mistake: When Kurt is reading the lottery numbers from the newspaper to the class, whilst he says "Suddenly they have a true quality, something imperative, almost beautiful", the newspaper is placed over the desk whilst he is holding it. When the shot cuts to focus on Antonius, the newspaper is suddenly hanging over the edge of the desk. (02:12:40)
Continuity mistake: When Kurt has finished giving his thoughts on the lottery numbers in the newspaper, Antonius thinks to himself and turns to his desk. He places his fist over his mouth, but when the shot cuts, his fist is lowered. (02:13:00)
Continuity mistake: When Kurt and Preusser are discussing if Antonius likes his art, then he'll get a gallery, after Preusser says he can get his girlfriend a car, Kurt replies "I'm married" and raises the cigarette he is holding to his mouth. When the shot cuts back to Preusser, the cigarette is out of his mouth and his hand is lowered. (02:14:15)
Continuity mistake: When Antonius leaves Kurt's art room, he takes off his hat and bows his head and body downward, before leaning back up again. The camera then cuts to a wider shot of the room, where Antonius' head is suddenly leaning downward again. (02:20:30)
Continuity mistake: When Kurt and Carl are speaking at the dinner table, Carl says he understands he doesn't want financial support and finds it laudable. Carl then says "So I have a suggestion" and Kurt looks at him. In the next shot, Kurt is suddenly looking at the table. (02:24:09)
Continuity mistake: Whilst Kurt and Ellie are on the train ride home after visiting her parents, when Kurt suggests that the job at the clinic will help, the curtains shown next to him are positioned away from the window frame. The two then stare back and forth for the next few seconds, but when it cuts to a shot of the two of them in the frame, the curtain has suddenly moved past the window frame. (02:24:57)
Continuity mistake: Carl takes out an envelope filled with documents that needs to be taken to the passport office. When he begins to take the documents out of the envelope, his right hand is positioned toward the bottom of the envelope while his left hand begins pulling out the documents. When the shot cuts, it is now his right hand pulling out the documents and his left hand holding onto the side of the envelope. (02:27:18)
Continuity mistake: Just after Carl has left the restaurant, Kurt picks up a glass of wine and drinks from it. When he puts it back down, he is holding it near the top. But in the next shot, he is holding it near the bottom. (02:30:05)
Continuity mistake: Preusser walks in on Kurt in his art room at night. In the shot of Preusser saying "What an asshole", the trouser brace on his right shoulder can be seen hanging off slightly. When the shot cuts back to Kurt, the brace has been properly adjusted. (02:31:05)
Continuity mistake: When Kurt begins preparing the blank canvas to paint over the projection of the photograph, he is first shown holding the canvas with one hand on the left and right side. In the next shot, he suddenly has his right hand on top of the canvas. (02:41:45)
Continuity mistake: When Kurt is preparing to paint over the projection of Carl's photograph, he rotates the canvas from a landscape position to a portrait position. When he finishes rotating it, his right hand is higher up than his left hand. But in the next shot, both his right and left hand are level with each other. (02:42:45)
Continuity mistake: Kurt squeezes the excess water out of a cloth he is using and begins to wipe the stairs with it. When he begins to wipe the step, he is holding the cloth with both hands. When the shot cuts, he is holding the cloth with one hand, and has the other placed against the step. (02:46:30)
Continuity mistake: When the documentary presenter stands in front of the painting of Kurt and Elisabeth, the cameraman can be seen to the left of the shot with the camera pointed downward. The cameraman then gives the presenter the thumbs up and the camera is suddenly pointed forward. (02:58:13)
Continuity mistake: When the documentary presenter finishes talking about Kurt's art, just as he finishes saying "we can speak of a work without an author", his thumb is pressed against the microphone he is holding. In the next shot, his thumb is suddenly pointed to the left. (02:58:58)
Continuity mistake: When Kurt convinces the bus drivers to beep their horns in unison, Kurt walks away after speaking with one of the drivers and has both hands touching each other. When the shot cuts, his hands are at his side. (03:01:16)
