Factual error: The river that Tyler Rake falls into near the end of the film, the Buriganga, is one of the most polluted rivers not only in Bangladesh, but in the world. There is no way the water is as clear as it appears when Tyler falls into it. It was done for effect, but nonetheless it's not accurate.
Suggested correction: The river is certainly polluted. But unless you have evidence of the view from under the surface, looking up, with the sun shining down, it's impossible to say that the water in that situation wouldn't look as clear as shown.
Factual error: Apex, played by Robert Maillet (a retired professional wrestler 6'11" and 350 pounds), forcefully slams Becky (played by 5' tall fifteen-year-old Lulu Wilson who probably weighs under 100 pounds) horizontally with her back hitting the ground from waist-high yet Becky is able to get up with no incapacitating injury that would be expected. Becky also manages to brutally kill him (as well as the three other neo-Nazis).
Continuity mistake: Kareem's mom is talking to her coworker about the fact that her son asked for James to pick him up at school. When she mentions that it's not seen as the coolest thing to date a cop, and a white one at that, her friend goes from hand low, to smoking with that hand, to drinking from the cup, in the span of a few words and a couple quick cuts. (00:09:45)
Factual error: Rich told Jamie, "There was a car accident. Guy came in. I cut when I should've stitched or stitched when I should've cut. I don't even know. His family sued in civil court, and I lost everything." A doctor working at a hospital would have been required to carry malpractice insurance, which would have protected him from "losing everything." Also, it would be difficult to prove that a car accident victim who died during surgery was a victim of malpractice; most cases are settled out of court. (00:38:30)
Factual error: Joel is using a ham radio set to contact his old colony. A shot of the radio set shows it is set to "CW", which is Morse Code, but he is using voice. And the strength meter is on zero. It should be showing the signal strength. (01:24:00)
Other mistake: "Sally" the Great White Shark rammed Emma into a rock (or other hard object) underwater and Emma only got a small cut above her right elbow. It isn't clear how fast Sally was swimming, but Emma was rammed with force (and appeared to hit her back). A female Great White Shark weighs about 4,000 or 5,000 pounds, so Emma would be expected to suffer a major (not minor) injury under the circumstances. (00:05:24)
Continuity mistake: The appearance of Grace's house by the front door (to the left of the screen) changes from the time Billy is standing along the road to when he meets his mother half-way. At first, the side of the house is mostly white; it is mostly brown thereafter. The garage area to Billy's left also changes color from brown to white. (00:05:22)
Other mistake: In the scene with a leak in the kitchen, the woman fixes it by turning an isolating tap above the leak. However the water would have been travelling up the pipe to the kitchen tap and so that wouldn't have stopped the leak. (00:34:00)
Other mistake: When Lomito was holding the little green ball with the smiley face on it, her flashlight was shining on her fingers/fingernails - all of which were long and manicured. The length of her fake fingernails - even if they did not exceed the department's policy on maximum length, such as one-fourth inch past the fingertip - probably were long enough to interfere with her ability to quickly put her finger on her pistol's trigger and shoot; the length interfered with her ability to perform her duties. (00:31:25)
Revealing mistake: After the kids take their seats at the game, the people behind them change, indicating the use of a green screen. (00:13:00)
Deliberate mistake: Zhang crushed and smeared several long red-hot peppers (cayenne?) in his hands to use as a makeshift weapon against thugs when rescuing Mei Mei. After Zhang smeared and pushed peppers into one thug's eyes, it is unlikely he would have been able to retain as much of the crushed peppers in his palms as he did. Also, holding the peppers in one or both of his palms would have interfered with grasping the second thug and redirecting his gun (without sliding off). (00:08:00 - 00:08:50)
Factual error: TV reporters said "home invasions" and mentioned trying to find the people who were responsible for the "70 robberies." Lance (in prison), was talking to a woman who was going to write a book and told her he got "twelve years" for "fifteen counts of robbery and vandalism." The crime Lance and the rest of the group were committing fits the legal definition of "burglary" in Illinois (basically, entering an occupied structure with the intent to commit a felony or theft inside; the structure does not have to be occupied at the time of the act). Because there happened to be someone at home during their last (intended) "burglary", this offense would be classified as a "robbery."
Continuity mistake: Leilani and Jibran are at the diner. No booze is served there, so they get milkshakes instead. In the establishing overhead shot there are no spoons in the shakes, they appear in the next shot. Which would be fine, but Leilani is playing with the spoon in that shot, and once he says that they should go to the police, her hand is gone. A few seconds later, Leilani's shake just moves entirely out of the way and is replaced by a plate of fries. (00:15:55)
Continuity mistake: Mikey and his friend are smoking the same inch-long joint by the back door which gets passed back and forth - no way they could keep holding/smoking it for that long given how short it was to start with. (00:04:50)
Character mistake: The new sheriff ("Alice") told Rayburn that she has only been sheriff for a couple months and was still catching up on active cases. Rayburn replied, "Yeah, my daughter's case is far from active." The sheriff then told Rayburn, "My training is very different from the officers around here" - meaning college-educated (Ivy League?), more professional, more effective, and modern. Despite this, some of the sheriff's actions (e.g, walking unannounced into suspects' houses and/or without a proper warrant; questionable "probable cause"; shooting Rayburn to protect her brother) fell far short of the ideal. Perhaps most significantly, the sheriff gave Rayburn a warning shot and told him not to kill Dr. Boone... then she stood back and merely watched Rayburn push Dr. Boone into the pitfall and close the doors while knowing the doctor was severely injured and dying. These things do not show her purported superior training. (00:21:43 - 01:25:34)
Factual error: The pilot is flying from the left-hand seat. Helos are flown from the right side. (01:23:00 - 01:25:00)
Continuity mistake: Chul-min tries to have a fight with one of the restaurant patrons whilst Jung-seok restrains him. Whilst the patron is saying "Do you even care about other patrons", Chul-min has his right hand on Jung-seok's upper arm, but when the shot cuts, the hand is no longer there. (00:16:07)
Continuity mistake: Early in the film when Jake gets in his car to head off to pick up his son, his seatbelt is on although there is no sight of him putting it on, then, as he pulls away the seatbelt is off.
Audio problem: When Kevin enters the car he says hi to his dad, and as it pans to the other side the dad says hi, but you can see he does not talk and it is not his voice. (00:06:04)
Continuity mistake: When Johanna and the Captain are being chased by Mr Almay and his associates, their position in the wagon changes. First Johanna is on the Captain's left. Next shot she is on his right. Next shot she is back on his left. (00:42:14)
