Continuity mistake: When we first see the male volcano, he is an entire island with trees and forests. After many years have passed and sinks into the ocean, it can be seen the trees and forests have now gone. However, after he spews out of the ocean and is together with the female volcano, the male volcano suddenly has trees and forests around him again.
Continuity mistake: When the kids are looking at the Stonehenge-type structures, the younger boy calls for everybody to come and see the hidden message. From the shot in front of the boy you can tell from his body position he's sitting up, however in the next shot from overhead, the boy is now lying down on the rock.
Continuity mistake: When Kat is asking the detective what he thinks happened to her mother, after Kat is in college and she visits home, the detective lights a cigarette. We see him move the cigarette out of view and when he brings it back there is barely 3 or 4 drags left. The camera cuts to Kat and back at the detective and there's over half of the cigarette left now.
Continuity mistake: In the scene where Tommy is arguing with Bob Crewe after the song "Trance", Tommy puts his arm up on the music stand while he argues. In the next shot Tommy's arms are now at his side. When the camera comes back to Tommy, his arm is on the music stand again. (00:49:50)
Continuity mistake: The amount of beer in Clinton's (and in Greta's) glass fluctuates. For example, Clinton's glass is almost full, but is even closer to the rim the second time it is shown. After the amount decreases (even though he isn't shown drinking any), the amount in his glass is fuller again. (00:45:20)
Continuity mistake: When Newgate is feeding the blind woman in the asylum, the position of her hands on him when he is pretending to be her son keep changing from the chest, to his neck, to his head.
Continuity mistake: When the pizza girl uses the net to knock the model helicopter off the tree, her bag is in plain sunlight in the faraway shots, and under the tree shadow in the closer views. (00:24:20)
Continuity mistake: At the end of the film we see stuff being crossed out in a notebook. The lines that are drawn through the words keep changing from being perfectly straight to being at an angle.
Continuity mistake: When Michael Keaton goes to his dressing room following the light accident, the note on the flowers changes. It first reads: "They didn't have the whatever you wanted." After he removes his headpiece, the note reads: "THEy didn't have whatever you wanted - SAM."
Continuity mistake: While father and son are eating beignets, the passers-by behind them are not continuous between shots.
Continuity mistake: Rich is dangling a light bulb above his dad's head. When the camera shifts to a close-up of Rich, the light bulb is higher - almost across from his own face - but back to dangling above his dad's head with the next camera shift. This is independent of Rich's dad telling him to "hold the light steady." (00:06:23)
Continuity mistake: A purple-haired prostitute shoots the other prostitute that was about to kill Everly from the kitchen counter. The woman dies with her gun in hand. A few seconds later, Everly tries to reach for that gun, now in a different spot on the floor. (00:17:30)
Continuity mistake: As the two assistant workers walk away from the prison building at the end of the first day, Charlotte Gainsbourg's grip on her folders switches between shots.
Continuity mistake: A side view of the tennis court observation tower shows the umbrella angled around 45°, arched over Jim's head. A front view shows the umbrella behind Jim's back, more perpendicular to the ground. In the next rear view, his body is tilted toward the right, the umbrella is arched half-way over his head again, and his legs are no longer crossed. The next front view shows the umbrella in back of him again (more parallel to his upper body) and is fanned out backwards to not obstruct his face. (00:26:42)
Continuity mistake: The car has rally seats through most of the film but at the end it has regular car seats.
Continuity mistake: When Dex sees "his" son for the first time, the kid in close-ups is playing with the toy that dangles from above, and there's a toy football by him. In the wider angles none of the above is happening. (00:38:40)
