Factual error: Marie Antoinette has moved into her new vacation home following the birth of her daughter. Her friends are visiting, she is walking through the field of wildflowers, and she blows a ladybug off her finger. The camera pans upward to show her gazing at the sky. There is a very obvious vapor-trail from a large airliner cutting through the center of the camera shot, from one side of the screen to the opposite, predating jet-liners by over 150 years. Factual error: When, on their second date, Jenny sucks in air and pulls a cab backwards, the driver spins the tires trying to go forward. The smoke rolling off the tires does not get drawn backwards towards the suction.

Factual error: In an interview before his first launch attempt, Charles explains that his flight plan is to make exactly one orbit of Earth, returning from orbit directly to the launch point, his farm in Texas. Launching from that latitude would necessarily incline the orbital plane to the equator, and Earth would rotate beneath the spacecraft's groundtrack during the roughly hour and a half period of the orbit. The craft would then land, not at the farm, but several hundred miles to the west.

Factual error: The slave ship the pirates overtake in the beginning is flying the tricolor flag of modern France, which was not adopted until the revolution in 1789. Blackbeard is set in 1717.

Factual error: The Blairs are in a car travelling down the motorway when Tony receives a phone call from a lord. In the background the passing scenery is leafless trees and a bare winter landscape, but the events of the film take place during the English summer.

Factual error: When the new candidates report in to Rescue Swimmer School, one of the airmen is wearing the Silver Star ribbon. The person is too young to have served in another service, and there are no other service's ribbons worn - and the Coast Guard hasn't issued a Silver Star since Vietnam.
Suggested correction: Nobody is wearing medals except for the captain and Randall in the entire scene.

Factual error: Jenna calls her dad with the result of her sonogram, and reveals the sex of the fetus. But given the timing of the movie, we know that Jenna is between 10 and 12 weeks - gender can't be determined from a sonogram until at least 20 weeks.

Factual error: Willow drops cartridges on the ground that appear to be .45ACP rounds. These are considerably larger than the 9mm rounds that Edward's Beretta pistol would actually use.

Factual error: The movie takes place in 1868, and every guy and his dog are wielding cartridge conversion Army, Navy, and even what appears to be Walker colts. Unfortunately, such conversions were not performed until 1869, after Smith and Wesson's rights to the Rollin White patent expired.

Factual error: When Eddie and Jack are in the ambulance you see a curtain over the window behind Jack. This would be a MAJOR infection control/sterility issue and therefore no ambulances have curtains, especially linen.

Factual error: In one of the opening scenes, when Queenan and Dignam are first interviewing Billy Costigan and Colin individually, Dignam refers to himself as a "staff sergeant." However, the Massachusetts State Police has not had staff sergeants since 1992.

Factual error: On the way into the health spa, Wilberforce's friend says they should hurry or they'll be late. Wilberforce replies "the waters have been here for a million years - how could we be late?". In the late 1700s, no-one in Europe thought the world was that old.

Factual error: You can see on the text message "20h48." But she receives this message during the afternoon (the time is incorrect). (00:27:35)

Factual error: During the movie the Germans are more then once using halftracks of the type sonderkraftfahrzeug 251, which originally were only allowed to be used by panzerdivisionen (armored divisions), and at the moment the movie is supposed to take place, there were no panzerdivisionen in Holland.

Factual error: As Augusten Burroughs is taken to his mother's physician's home to stay, he notices Dr. Finch's wife, Agnes, intently watching the vampire soap opera "Dark Shadows." However, the year has been previously indicated as 1978 and Dark Shadows ran before that, from 1966 until 1971, so it couldn't have been on television.
Suggested correction: Dark Shadows would have been running in reruns at that time.

Factual error: When the Empress is dressing for the Chrysanthemum festival, bobby pins and hair pins are visible in her hair, not made available until the 20th century.

Factual error: To demonstrate his hatred of the England football team, Paul throws darts at a photograph of the players in their red shirts midway through the competition. However, the photo in question was taken after the final was played. Furthermore, in relation to the film's timescale, when the scene takes place neither the team or the choice of kit had been decided upon.

Factual error: Ron Clark was from Aurora North Carolina. The shot where he is leaving for New York is supposed to be in Aurora, which is in Eastern North Carolina. The shot shows a house with lots of spruce trees around it. We don't have those in Eastern North Carolina.

Factual error: When Gray gives her dead boyfriend's friend her boyfriend's old high school T-shirt, he puts it on, you can see that it is a "tagless" T-shirt. You can see the imprint of the "tag" through the shirt. Those kinds of tags were not used when they were in high school that many years ago.

Factual error: As Christian Bale's Skyraider releases rockets, at first they drop like bombs. In real life, rockets shoot away instantly, at an almost straight line from the launching plane, never falling like bombs.
