Revealing mistake: When Cruz, Miklo, and Paco take out the customer's car cruising they pass a Olds Cutlass and Chrysler Cordoba on the street that are newer than 1972. (00:11:00)
Revealing mistake: During the opening credits, it is obvious that the train is just a model during the initial close up shots.
Suggested correction: There is nothing in the opening shots that betray it as a model shot. Logic alone argues against it. Why would they go to the expense of building a detailed model when there is no unusual action or angles required? Especially since many of the shots are obviously not a model. Exactly how is it obviously a model?
I agree it does look like it's a model train, but that's only because of the filming techniques that make it appear to run a little choppier like it's was a light weight model. But it's real, for example in one scene that looks like it's a model, you see a real bird flying on screen.
Revealing mistake: During the St. Patrick's Day parade, Kimble removes his coat. In the next scene, he hasn't got the coat anymore, and he HASN'T dropped it. Don't be fooled. If you look to his right in the scene just after he takes it off, you can see a man carrying a coat that is the exact same colour and design. I assume this guy is supposed to be hiding the coat from view, but you can plainly see it. The guy is wearing a green hat. Kimble had no time to give it to him before the scenes changed. (01:23:25)
Revealing mistake: The soldiers on the beach were armed with M-16 rifles. The movie period was 1962, during the Cuban Missile Crisis. The M-16 and M-16A1 were not manufactured until 1964.
Suggested correction: Just watched Matinee again after reading this. I saw M1 carbines, M1919A4 and M2.50 cal machine guns and M14 rifles. There are no M16 series weapons in this movie.
Revealing mistake: When Jack comes into the bedroom right after Laurel has delivered the baby the mother looks as refreshed as if she had just woken up from a nap, and the baby is much to smooth for a newly born. (01:05:25)
Revealing mistake: When Alabama sets fire to Virgil's head and you see him stumble out of the bathroom, his head is greatly disfigured and larger, indicating the fire protective mask.
Revealing mistake: When Gilbert finds Arnie in the bath and takes him out, you can see a towel around Arnie's waist.
Revealing mistake: In the scene where Max is trying to find the source of the bad smell in his car, a shot from behind shows a view out the windshield. The column shifter is in Park even though Max is driving.
Revealing mistake: You can see the shadow of a camera and a microphone on Michael Biehn or Nicolas Cage back when they are fighting.
Revealing mistake: Right before Alex and Tommy are about to leave for their date, Walter is playing Tetris. When he puts down the control to come talk to them in the kitchen, the game keeps playing and you can see the pieces moving and turning.
Revealing mistake: When Darian is swinging the pole at Nick near the stairs during the climax, she is so cleanly replaced by a stunt double in two zoomed out shots. The double's face looks absolutely NOTHING like Alicia Silverstone.
Revealing mistake: When Joe drives Camille on his bike, for a brief moment if you look closely a stuntman is driving for him.
Revealing mistake: At the pool party, when Ike loses his temper and knocks Tina to the floor, you hear her screaming as he lands 3 punches. When he raises his fists, there's no blood on his fingers. Despite after he drags her into the bedroom, her nose is covered in blood.
Revealing mistake: Toward the end of the movie when Van Damme is on the motorcycle watch the pull back shots. You can see the stuntman in place of Van Damme. In addition, the stuntman is clean shaven in some shots where Van Damme looks like his beard is growing in. It's very noticeable, especially when he goes down the mountain. You can even see the ramp set up as he first goes down.
