Visible crew/equipment: Toward the end of the movie, during the gunfight, Burt Lancaster hides behind an adobe wall. There is a bullet ricochet, and the wire & tape from the squib charge hangs out from the wall and bobs for several seconds.
Visible crew/equipment: In the last scene, when they are riding alongside a river, shortly after the harmonica player changes songs, there's a closeup of John Wayne and appearing from the right on the other side of the river, a pickup truck appears, and then they quickly cut to different characters. Visible crew/equipment: When Caleb punches the driver guy in the bar, the guy (who has now been replaced by a stuntman) goes flying backwards and lands on the pool table. When this happens, a wire can be seen on the stuntman, pulling him back and guiding his movement.
Visible crew/equipment: In a scene where Kirk Douglas appears to 'leap' onto his horse, a crew members arm is clearly visible in the foot of the shot pushing a mini trampoline next to the horse, ready for Kirk to jump onto and bounce up onto the saddle.
Visible crew/equipment: When Woodward has Paris draped over his horse, he's leading the horse back to the prison and you can see the square piece of black equipment they added to the foot rest of the saddle, that the stuntman is holding on to so he doesn't fall off the horse. When Woodward arrives at the prison, it's gone.
Visible crew/equipment: This movie is set in 1889. There are clear deep truck wheel tracks on the road when Gummer is about to leave Rejection. The steam tractor's wheels are too wide to make these tracks. (01:05:30)
Visible crew/equipment: During the scene where Cookie is drunk and takes off in the covered wagon, if you look under Cookie's seat you can see a person in a dark shirt inside the wagon. It can't be one of the movie characters because when he heads towards the cliff, he's the only one who jumps out of the wagon and in the next scene only the horses are buried.
Visible crew/equipment: In the scene When Dobbs is panicking as he searches for the body of his not-so dead partner, who he had tried to kill the night before, he stumbles left and right. The camera pans a bit to far revealing the studio lot, building and fence, and a crew member sitting by a truck or machine.
