Continuity mistake: Ser Jorah has just given Daenerys 3 books as her wedding present. As she takes them, their spines are pointing towards her right side. Cut to the next shot, as Jorah informs her that he served her father, the spines are now pointing towards her left side. (00:50:45)
Dark Wings, Dark Words - S3-E2
Continuity mistake: When Brienne of Tarth is facing off against Jaime Lannister on the bridge, in a shot from behind the blade is angled upwards, not touching her arm, then in the immediate next shot from the front the blade is now lying along her arm.
Continuity mistake: When Daenerys dies, in the close up her head is parallel to the ground, looking up at Jon. Cut to a wide shot and her head's hanging much further backwards, plus her eyes are suddenly closed.
Continuity mistake: When we see the dead deer at the start there are maggotts all over the face of the deer. Between camera angles, the position of the maggots differ drastically. (00:15:00)
Continuity mistake: When Tyrion wakes up inside the skycell you can see two skylights in the ceiling of the cell through which the sunlight passes. However, when we get a long shot of the skycells, you can see there's no way for the light to pass through them, as there are no "holes" on the floor of the cells above Tyrion's. (00:13:45)
Continuity mistake: When Ser Vardis has cornered Bron right at the edge of the moon door the position of Bron's body changes between shots. When the shot is taken from inside the moondoor, Bron's body leans backwards, over the moondoor. But when the shot is taken from behind the throne Bron is leaning forward.
The Rains of Castamere - S3-E9
Continuity mistake: At the climax of the Red Wedding massacre, Robb crawls towards his dead wife Talisa from the direction of the doors, which are at the opposite side from Walder Frey's throne. Robb turns Talisa onto her back from her left side (ie. he is on the right hand side of her body), and looks down at her face. This means that Talisa is lying in such a way that, if facing Walder's throne, her head is on the right and her feet on the left, towards where Catelyn is holding Walder's wife hostage and pleading for Robb's life. However, when Walder refuses, Robb has changed position and is now on the left side of Talisa's body, which is presumed to be facing the same direction as before as there is no reason for it to have changed. Robb then turns towards Catelyn who is still on the left side of the room (if facing from The Door), and is stabbed by Roose Bolton. As Robb collapses to his death, looking directly at Catelyn, he lands next to Talisa, whose head is now closest to Catelyn with her feet facing the other way, meaning that her body has somehow rotated by 180° in a matter of seconds. This is an especially bad mistake considering that several people have claimed the Red Wedding was completed in one take, which is not possible if this error exists unless Oona Chaplin for some reason decided out of boredom to play spin the bottle with her own body while out of shot, which would have interfered with Richard Madden's position anyway. (00:47:00 - 00:50:00)
Character mistake: Davos advises Grey Worm to claim land in the Reach and start his own house. Since Grey Worm is a eunuch, he cannot start his own house, as he cannot father children to pass his name and lands onto.
Revealing mistake: At the beginning of the episode, Robb and Blackfish Tully are pushing Hoster Tully's funeral boat down the river. When they climb back onto the dock, there is already a trail of water going from the steps and ending where Robb ends up standing. None of the other characters standing on this portion of the dock have wet clothes, meaning none of them went into the river, indicating that the trail of water was from previous takes.
Revealing mistake: Just after Jon is told he is confined to quarters, there is a shot of outside with snow falling. However the snow is actually rising. Indicating the shot has been reversed. (00:22:55)
Continuity mistake: Catelyn confronts her sister about the raven's message that arrived at dawn. When she does, the roll of paper is rolled completely differently between the 2 camera angles. (00:16:05)
Continuity mistake: When the guard is hitting Tyrion in the sky cell, Tyrion has his arms outstretched in one shot and against the wall in the next. (00:14:00)
Continuity mistake: Khal Drogo has just lifted Daenerys onto her horse after their wedding celebration. Her hair is behind both shoulders. In the immediate next shot, her hair has now moved in front. (00:55:00)
Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken - S5-E6
Continuity mistake: When the Sand Snakes attempt to kidnap Myrcella, as Nymeria Sand runs up to Myrcella to seize her, she is holding her large whip in her right hand. However, in the very next shot, the whip has disappeared, and Nymeria is now holding a dagger in her hand instead.
The Bear and the Maiden Fair - S3-E7
Continuity mistake: Jamie is getting his stump tended to and some white ointment is rubbed onto it before it is rebandaged. Before the bandage is placed however, the ointment disappears.
Continuity mistake: When Dany dies, the blood trails coming from her mouth and nose are pale in some shots and dark in others. They also appear to change position slightly, but that might just be the camera angle.
Continuity mistake: When King Robert arrives at Winterfell, the wide leather straps of his cloak are crisscrossed with his left over his right, but when Robert and Ned walk inside the crypts, Robert's straps are crisscrossed the opposite way, with his right over his left. The shots are not flipped.
Continuity mistake: When Bran is taken from his horse in the woods, there are 3 wildlings that attack. The first Rob cuts his throat, the second, Rob is holding the female wildling by the hair, he then spears and kills the third with his sword and the very next frame the 3rd wildling is then holding a knife to Bran's throat, unharmed. (00:11:15)
Visible crew/equipment: At the Wildling camp, before Jon and Ygritte go into the cave, there is a modern building, and clutter visible in the distance.
Answer: As Hand of the King, Tywin is the second most authoritative person in Westeros behind only the king. The Hand's duties include sitting on The Iron Throne and dispensing order, justice and judgment, similar to what Ned Stark did in the Season 1 episode "A Golden Crown" while then-king Robert Baratheon was out hunting. It's also worth pointing out that Tywin's enormous wealth makes him the de facto most powerful person in Westeros, which he demonstrates in the Season 3 episode "Mhysa" when he sends King Joffrey to bed without his supper and remarks to Tyrion "You're a fool if you believe he's the most powerful man in Westeros. Do you really think the crown gives you power?"
