Luther Gillis: File #521 - S4-E2
Continuity mistake: At the start, when Luther gets out of his car the license plate number is AUF-365, but after Magnum's visit to the ER, when Luther is at Robin's Nest his plate number is AUF-366. It's the same rented Ford Fairmont Futura. (00:02:40)
Luther Gillis: File #521 - S4-E2
Continuity mistake: In jail, Luther asks Magnum "So you're a private detective, uh?" In close-up he's close to Magnum's knee, after the cut on Magnum correcting him with "Investigator" he's by his shoe. (00:06:20)
Luther Gillis: File #521 - S4-E2
Continuity mistake: Luther tells Magnum "We're working the same side of the street"; in that wider angle the shadow on Tom Selleck's face and the pillow - actually how deep onto the pillow he is lying - changes compared to the close-ups that follow and precede. (00:06:30)
Luther Gillis: File #521 - S4-E2
Continuity mistake: When Luther riles Tanaka up, at the beginning a cop with a yellow shirt and one with a black patterned one are in the background. First the yellow one, then the black one in separate shots move past the desk and exit stage left carrying a folder. A policewoman then does the same. In the second part of the scene all these people make their exit to the left again. (00:08:30)
Luther Gillis: File #521 - S4-E2
Continuity mistake: Magnum gets dropped by the bullet to the temple; his left arm is stretched outwards, right angle with the body, but when Luther kneels by him to check him out on that side, the arm is not in the way. (00:13:00)
Luther Gillis: File #521 - S4-E2
Continuity mistake: Luther drives Magnum to the Nest while he shows him the book he wrote. During the trip, the cars behind either man in the rear window vanish at each cut, not appearing behind the other - particularly noticeable when a large truck roars past Luther right before Magnum tells him "Here we are" (00:14:30)
Luther Gillis: File #521 - S4-E2
Continuity mistake: Agatha reacts to the "He was shot" bit of info with concern in a close-up. A few seconds later there is a medium shot of her, and her karate gi is a whole lot more open. Definitely not the type of character or scene where it's implied she's showing some cleavage for Magnum. (00:15:50)
Luther Gillis: File #521 - S4-E2
Continuity mistake: Magnum is at the guesthouse with Luther. He grabs a Coops beer from the fridge, but does not close the cabinet door. Which is closed when Luther says he's gonna go get Artie. And then open again when Tom Selleck gets up and is in the same shot as Eugene Roche. (00:19:05)
Luther Gillis: File #521 - S4-E2
Continuity mistake: When Luther and Magnum are arrested at Keanu's cockfight location, Luther is wearing his red Hawaiian shirt with palm trees design, then when Tanaka calls them both "walking menaces," the design on Luther's shirt is different now, though it's still the same style. (00:25:50)
Luther Gillis: File #521 - S4-E2
Continuity mistake: Magnum resolves to shake off the guys who are tailing them; to do so he switches gear; the wrist of whoever is doing that action in close-up wears no jewelry, and Magnum has a metal bracelet. (00:29:00)
Luther Gillis: File #521 - S4-E2
Continuity mistake: Luther is mumbling about the "race car" not being helpful in the car jam. The car at their side changes, and there's an extra line behind it - they were in the middle line in the previous shot. (00:30:20)
Luther Gillis: File #521 - S4-E2
Continuity mistake: Luther and Magnum figure out that there's something wrong with the nun's words, so they turn around and star running back. There's a street worker behind them, dressed in yellow and red. She sidesteps out of Luther's way. To the outside. In the reverse shot she is walking unperturbed between them. (00:33:30)
Luther Gillis: File #521 - S4-E2
Continuity mistake: Supposedly Magnum and Luther have been tailed just after release from prison (the second time), but they have a complete change of clothes and accessoires. They can't be back from Robin's nest, because Higgins is outraged to see the man again on the premises - and really everything about dialogue and situation implies the opposite.
