The A-Team

Show generally

Question: Do we ever find out what the H.M. in H.M. "Howling Mad" Murdock really stands for? (ie. B.A. stands for Bosco Albert).

Mister Ed

Chosen answer: The "H" stands for Hector. The "M" is never explained in the series.

Answer: They never use an M14. The nearly always use a Ruger Mini 14, a totally different weapon.

Answer: The machine guns primarily used were M60's or M60D's. Although there were a lot of sub-machine guns used too, like the Mac-10. For some reason other answers are talking about rifles used in the show.

Bishop73

For the reason is because most people don't know the difference between an automatic rifle, a sub-machine gun, and a machine gun. I.e. Die Hard "Ho-ho-ho now we have a machine gun" - actually a HK MP5K. M60D's are for helicopter door gunners. I suspect you mean an M60E3, with the pistol foregrip.

stiiggy

You suspect wrong. I did mean M60D since they were seen being used as helicopter door guns.

Bishop73

Only in the stock footage in the intro though.

lionhead

Yes, because the question was asking what machine guns were used, but didn't cite a specific episode or anything, so I was being thorough.

Bishop73

The question is what machine guns were used by the A-team. Not that one.

lionhead

So you think the question was what machine gun was used by the A-Team but not by the A-Team?

Bishop73

No. The A-Team never used the M60D anywhere in the series, you only see it in the stock footage of the intro. And the question was what machine guns the A-team used.

lionhead

Which is stock footage of the A-Team.

Bishop73

That is most definitely not the A-team in the helicopter, they are just showing footage from the Vietnam war.

lionhead

Answer: Mostly M-14's. Occaisionally M-16's or Ingram Model 10's. http://world.guns.ru/smg/smg00-e.htm.

Grumpy Scot

They are not M-14s, that is a full automatic military rifle used during the early part of the Vietnam War as a replacement for the M1 Garand. It has much the same appearance as the M1 except with a magazine instead of a top-loading en-bloc 8 rd clip. The rifles used by the team are Ruger Mini-14s, chambered for .223. An M-14 is NATO 5.56.

Answer: Several times, Face would pose as a doctor to get Murdock out of the Mental Hospital. How easy would it have been to convince airport officials that he was a doctor taking a sedated patient on board? Or simply tell them, this man is afraid of flying, so he had to be sedated. They could say, "Believe me, you don't want this man to be awake."

Answer: The reply does not answer the question. It does not ask how they sedated him, but how a sedated person can be checked in at the airport.

Answer: In the pilot episode, they would give him a tranquilizer dose with a needle injection. In two episodes, he tried to fly awake but went wild once in the air. In another episode, when hijackers held a plane, it was on the ground. When it took off, B.A. went into a catatonic state.

Answer: It was actually hinted early in the show's run that he wasn't afraid to fly until he was in Vietnam. Something that happened there made him afraid of flying. They revisited that again in the 2010 film, where it was Murdoc's insane flying of a helicopter that scared him.

That was my first thought - unless it's explicitly stated he's been afraid of flying all his life, it makes perfect sense that it was a fear triggered by a wartime experience.

Answer: Vietnam is accessible by sea. Also, just because someone hates flying doesn't mean they can't just "suck it up" and do it, if it's important enough. If he was in the military, then he would not have a choice. His fear may have grown over the years. His A-Team members often sedated him and would even knock him out to get him on a plane.

The A-Team mistake picture

Labor Pains - S2-E8

Continuity mistake: At the beginning during the bridge jump scene, the A-Team van changes. It suddenly has round headlights, its hub caps can be seen popping off when it lands, and it doesn't have any spotlights. The real van has double square shaped headlights, steel spoked rims, and spotlights. (00:05:20)

Trivia: Though Dirk Benedict is well known for playing Templeton "Faceman" Peck he didn't play the role in the pilot. The role in the pilot was played by Tim Dunigan.
