Continuity mistake: In the episode's intro, as Dwight's aunt died, he explains the Schrute custom of inviting someone or not, by throwing red dirt or black soil at the person's face. In the first shot, Dwight shows the red dirt bucket by lifting his left hand, but when the camera angle changes to the side, you can see his right hand is lifted up with the other bucket. The camera returns to the front as he is still lowering his left arm, and then he proceeds to lift the black soil bucket with the right arm. (00:00:48)
Continuity mistake: Toby competes with Darryl to sell Girl Scout cookies. Toby says it's his daughter's first year selling them. However, earlier in the series, Toby agrees to sign Dwight's apology letter from corporate if he buys cookies from his daughter.
Character mistake: Meredith admits during the ethics seminar that she has been sleeping with Bruce, the HammerMill rep, for discounts on paper/paper supplies for the company, as well as Outback steak coupons, for 6 years. But, Dunder Mifflin did not begin selling Hammer Mill products until 3-2 "The Convention" when Michael got the contract.
Launch Party - S4-E3
Continuity mistake: In 2-13 "The Secret" Pam and Jim are talking about how Jim used to have a crush on Pam when she first started here. This implies that Jim was working here when Pam was hired. However, in this episode Pam says that when Jim first started working there she said, "Enjoy this moment, because you're never going to go back to this time before you met your desk-mate, Dwight." These two scenes contradict each other.
Continuity mistake: In one episode Angela says she hasn't talked to her sister in years over an argument that she doesn't remember. When she's engaged to Andy and they're touring Dwight's farm he mentions she has multiple sisters. In the finale she only has one sister and apparently they are incredibly close.
Suggested correction: In the finale the "Sister" is Angela's best friend. Do you recall them each saying this is my older sister?
That's a common joke among siblings that are close, they're joking about which one is older. Rachel is Angela's sister, not just a friend. They even go on to say "we're very close. We even have our own special language", which is something common among siblings that are close. The mistake is valid.
Continuity mistake: In this episode Michael can't ride a bike. But in episode 3-10, Michael was seen riding a bike with no problems.
Survivor Man - S4-E7
Continuity mistake: In "The Alliance" (1-4), Pam says that the next office birthday is Meredith's, but it isn't until the next month. Later, in "Survivor Man", it is said that Meredith's birthday is at the end of 'Birthday Month', when many employees have birthdays close together. It wouldn't be possible for Meredith's birthday to both be the next office birthday but also at the end of the following month, which is stated to have many other birthdays in it.
Continuity mistake: In 4-14 "Goodbye, Toby", Andy Bernard invites his parents to the going-away party for Toby Flenderson and introduces them as "Andrew and Ellen Bernard." But in 6-16 Andy tells Jim that he was originally named "Walter Jr." after his father and that it was changed when his little brother was born and the name Andrew was one that they got out of a baby-naming book. Additionally, in 8-4 "Garden Party", Dwight is introducing the entering guests. When Andy's parents arrive, Dwight says, "Mr. And Mrs. Walter and Ellen Bernard." (00:36:20)
Continuity mistake: Andy states that he has a step-mother who is/was a secretary, but in all other references to Andy's father's wife she is Andy's biological mother.
Character mistake: Carol says that Michael proposed to her on their fourth date. The proposal happened in Season 3, Episode 6, Diwali, and in that episode, Carol mentioned that it was their ninth date.
Continuity mistake: When Jan, Michael and Pam are having a meeting in Michael's office they're sitting against the front window, but during that scene when it shows Jim and Dwight talking at their desks, if you look over Jim's shoulder you'll see that the office behind them is empty. (00:06:30)
Launch Party - S4-E3
Other mistake: In the beginning of the episode Meredith asks Jim to sign her cast. If you look closely, it's obvious that the actor John Krasinski signs his real name, not the name of his character, Jim Halpert. (00:02:35)
Continuity mistake: When the dancer is sitting on Michael's lap, she messes up some of his hair, causing it to stick up. In the next shot, his hair has fixed itself.
Tallahassee - S8-E15
Continuity mistake: Stanley can be heard as part of The Office yelling at Andy to pick up the phone, when he is supposed to be located in Tallahassee on the Business Trip. (00:05:30)
The Manager and the Salesman - S6-E15
Continuity mistake: When Michael enters the room he messes with Jim's hair and Jim's hair is noticeably different, however a few different camera angles later Jim's hair is back to normal even though he couldn't have possibly had time to touch it. (00:09:10 - 00:09:50)
Other mistake: Michael states that he and Jan have traded in their two cars for a Porsche (for her) however from earlier episodes we know that Michael's Sebring is a corporate lease.
Suggested correction: He's only saying it's a corporate lease to egg Dwight on cause he tricked him into thinking he got the manager position over Michael when Dwight tells Jan he could run the branch better in the waffle house, but right after screams "That's my car!" several times.
When he hit Meredith with his car he started it was a corporate lease again though.
Yes, he tells Ryan the accident occurred on company property, with company property so... Double Jeopardy they are fine. To which Ryan says, I don't think you understand how jeopardy works.
Continuity mistake: When Michael takes Katy around the office, while walking by Phyllis' desk he asks Ryan to look after the purses, but Ryan says he can't because he's "installing File-Share on all the computers." Phyllis is noticeably absent from the shot. Ryan is sitting at Phyllis' desk. Michael and Katy take a few steps and walk into the kitchen area. In the background we can now see that Phyllis is now sitting at her desk and Ryan is nowhere in sight. There wasn't enough time for both to switch locations. (00:06:10)
Continuity mistake: About midway through the episode, when Michael is asking Dwight about his evening plans, Dwight's collar is up. Moments later, his collar is down.
Revealing mistake: When Toby announces that he's moving to Costa Rica, he gets up and goes to hop the fence. He moves out of frame and when the camera goes back to him, he's been replaced by a stunt double, which can be seen as the double's face is visible after he's scaled the fence. (00:17:15)
Factual error: While the sales team break up the huddle in the parking lot to do sales calls, the camera zooms out and you see a palm tree in the background, but this show takes place in cold weather Pennsylvania. (00:16:25)
Suggested correction: Michael didn't establish the contract with Hammer-mill. Rather, he locked them up as an exclusive supplier. It's unknown if they were already selling the products to Dunder Mifflin alongside Staples and Office Max.
Wrong, Josh says they cannot sell Hammer-mill products as they are exclusive to Staples so therefore they wouldn't have been able to sell there products alongside as mentioned before until Michael made them an exclusive to them solely, Dunder Mifflin. Therefore the original mistake stands true.
