Continuity mistake: When Batman surprises Joker and his henchmen in the gym, his shadow is on the wall behind them, his cape spread out and forming a menacing bat shape. But when the shot cuts to him and Robin, Batman's cape isn't spread. He's standing with his arms down. (00:20:40)

Continuity mistake: Catwoman dangles an unconscious Robin face-down on a tilting board over her tiger pit. He comes to, pulls his arms free and clutches the board's edges. In the next, closer shot, he's unconscious again, wakes up and repeats the grabbing-the-board motion. (00:07:30)

Continuity mistake: Van Jones is very upset at Riddler's Charlie Chaplin impression, but in a wide shot, he is smiling with everyone else.
The Pharaoh's in a Rut (2) - S1-E28
Continuity mistake: When the fight starts and after Batman gets into the sword fight with Tut's henchman, Tut's women start to leave. But in the close-up when Batman states he stayed sane by reciting the multiplication tables backwards, the women leave again.
Continuity mistake: At the beginning, in the wide shot of Batman and Robin over the candle dipper, Riddler is standing with his back towards them, but in the close-up, he is facing forward.
Continuity mistake: There is a jump cut at the beginning when Batman and Robin are being lowered into the vat of wax, where all of a sudden, Batman is trying to wiggle his legs free.
Not Yet, He Ain't (2) - S1-E22
Continuity mistake: When Batman and Robin are being chased by O'Hara and the cops, Batman raises his hand, goes to throw a smoke grenade, then in the next shot, he raises his hand again to actually throw it.
The Thirteenth Hat (1) - S1-E13
Continuity mistake: When Batman parks the Batmobile in front of Octave Marbot's studio, Batman tells Robin to activate the vehicle's anti-theft device. Robin is wearing green leather gloves, but in the closeup Robin's green glove is made out of a material (looks like cotton) very different than Robin's gloves. (00:18:15)
Continuity mistake: When Robin parks the Batmobile while Batman heads into the disco, Robin raises the radar antenna on the hood to spin and provide a good signal. But in the shot from behind Robin, as he lifts the dash Batscope cover, the radar antenna is still in its original position and hasn't been raised, but the Batscope visuals are working perfectly. It happens again, when Robin watches on the Batscope as Batman begins to collapse from the spiked OJ, the radar antenna hasn't been raised at all. (00:16:50)
While Gotham City Burns (2) - S1-E30
Continuity mistake: While Bookworm is at stately Wayne Manor he hands Aunt Harriet a book, and when she opens it Harriet and Alfred are gassed unconscious. In the next closeup of the rare book encased in glass, its open pages have colorful illustrations, but in the next shot the open pages have only plain text. (00:09:30)
Better Luck Next Time (2) - S1-E20
Continuity mistake: While Batman is increasing his communicator's audio modulation so as to incapacitate the tiger, Batman is wearing Bat Ear Plugs to protect his hearing. As Batman turns his head in the closeup, we're able to see that the Bat Ear Plug has vanished from his right ear, then it reappears in its proper place. (00:04:55)
Continuity mistake: When False Face escapes from the bank he has Blaze with him in the Town Panel truck, and she's handcuffed to the overhead pipe. Blaze is wearing a neutral color nail polish, but in the closeups of her cuffed hand her nail polish is salmon colored. (00:14:30)
Continuity mistake: When Batman and Robin scale the warehouse wall then watch Joker and his cohorts, each of the two windows have latches at the bottom, but when the Dynamic Duo burst in through the window, only the left window has a latch. (00:11:45)
Continuity mistake: When Robin has the idea that Riddler placed two other riddles hidden in the legal documents, Robin holds the papers up with his raised right hand, but in the next shot the documents are being held up in Robin's left hand. (00:13:45)
Continuity mistake: At the secret HQ of the Mole Hill Mob, Molly is wearing a ring on her right hand and many bangle bracelets as she dances, but in the closeup when reaches into the caviar jar the ring and bracelets are gone, then it all reappears. (00:15:00)
Not Yet, He Ain't (2) - S1-E22
Continuity mistake: When the Batmobile is blocked by the second police car, it's stopped on an angle, and almost touching the car. When the Penguin commandeers the Batmobile, it's sitting correctly on the road, so that it can be driven easily without really needing to back up.
The Joker Goes to School (1) - S1-E15
Continuity mistake: As Batman goes to cuff the Joker, the Joker holds up his right hand. In the close up, his left hand is raised.
Continuity mistake: Batman and Robin are being summoned by Commissioner Gordon, but are still in civilian clothes, so it's time to get to the Bat-cave. Bruce presses the switch and the bookshelf begins to slide open. Pay attention to the white books in the third row and the red books on the top shelf. In the close-up that follows there are fewer white books, their cluster aligned with the last of the red books, a different proportion from the previous shot. The name tags on the bat-poles are also misaligned in the wider shot and perfectly at the same level in the close-up (which is a reused shot from the pilot episode). (00:05:10)
Continuity mistake: Despite his lackadaisical pitching, the Joker manages to eliminate a series of batters. In particular, there is one elimination before and after the warden tells O'Hara about the joys in life, when Joker didn't really have time to throw the ball 2 more times. (00:01:55)
Answer: It's wasn't unusual for multiple actors to play one character on this show. The villains on the TV Batman were played by guest stars, not regular cast members. George Sanders, Otto Preminger, and Eli Wallach played the part at various times. They may simply have only wanted to play the part once or twice, or they were later tied up with other projects, making it necessary to cast someone else. Other characters, like Catwoman, were also played by more than one actress.
