Monk

Mr. Monk Goes to the Office - S4-E4

Continuity mistake: When Monk is trying to join the two cops' conversation about football, in the shots from the side of the police car that they're standing near, the two cops are standing less than a foot apart. In the shots from the other side of the car, they're far apart enough for Monk, Natalie, and Captain Stottlemeyer to stand between them. (00:03:00 - 00:05:00)

Mr. Monk Goes to the Office - S4-E4

Continuity mistake: When Monk and Natalie are talking to Kemp in his office, the desk ornament and the cup of pencils that Monk keeps organizing change positions between shots. In the shots from Monk's side of the desk, the ornament is closer to the door. In the shots from Kemp's side, the pencil cup is closer. (00:09:40 - 00:11:20)

Mr. Monk Gets Drunk - S4-E5

Continuity mistake: When Natalie and Al are struggling, the gun lands on the table and there's a basket of corks. Somehow when Al gets the gun, the basket is tipped over and the corks are on the table. But after Monk hits Al, the corks are all back in the basket, which is upright.

Mr. Monk Gets Drunk - S4-E5

Continuity mistake: When Monk and Al are sitting to drink wine, Al grabs his bottle with one hand to pour the wine and the other hand is hanging down to his side. In the next shot, as he's pouring the wine, he's holding the glass with the other hand. In the next shot, his hand is by his side again.

Mr. Monk and Mrs. Monk - S4-E6

Continuity mistake: When the Trudy impersonator is talking to Janice's father in the diner, the venetian blinds on the window to his left alternate between raised and lowered positions as the shots change. (00:06:50)

Mr. Monk and Little Monk - S4-E8

Continuity mistake: When Monk is doing the summation for the present-day case with Sherry's ex-husband sitting in the chair, at first you can see that the painting is directly behind him. However, shortly thereafter during the summation, the painting has somehow shifted to the viewer's left and is no longer directly behind him. While it's plausible that someone could have moved the painting, it's just not believable since less than a minute has passed. Besides, would Lt. Disher (he was closest) really take it upon himself to move evidence?

Mr. Monk and the Secret Santa - S4-E9

Continuity mistake: In the beginning scene it shows someone injecting a liquid, with ease, into what appears to be a corked wine bottle. Then around the 13-min mark you see the Captain re-gift the bottle and when the person opens it, it's a pull cork with a hard top, something a needle would not easily go through. (00:00:10 - 00:13:23)

Mr. Monk and the Secret Santa - S4-E9

Continuity mistake: When Alice is in Stottlemeyer's office and Stottlemeyer can't find Terry's present, Alice says, "But what about..." indicates the bottle of port, and then drops her arms to her sides. In the next shot (when we see Alice from the back), we can tell by the position of her elbows that her hands are not at her sides, but in front of her.

Mr. Monk Goes to Jail - S2-E16

Factual error: Death row prisoners cannot donate organs. No doctor participates in an execution and after the lethal injection the medical examiner must wait at least fifteen minutes to test for cardiac activity before pronouncing the prisoner dead. This is enough time for hypoxia to render the heart, lungs and kidneys useless for transplant. Apart from this, organs intended for transplant must be removed within minutes of the death of the donor. Prisoners are not executed in operating theatres.

Mr. Monk Goes to Mexico - S2-E2

Trivia: According to co-producer Tom Scharpling, the Mexican homicide cops are purposely written as parodies of Stottlemeyer and Disher, right down to their attitudes, their ranks, their suits, and Captain Alameda's mustache. Even the bumbling lieutenant's name is a little joke on Disher. Plato means "dish" in Spanish.

Mr. Monk and the Garbage Strike - S5-E2

Question: Why would it have been political suicide if it was discovered that Mayor Nicholson was secretly meeting with Cusack to end the garbage strike? If anything, if the people found out that they were meeting to find a way to end the garbage strike, wouldn't that have made everybody happy considering how much garbage was piling up all over the city?

Answer: The two men are trying to work out a secret deal between them without involving the union, which means the workers' interests aren't being represented and defeats the whole purpose of a union. The mayor would lose labor's support and Cusack's union troubles would just be starting.
